Geoff Keighley has announced that The Game Awards will be held on December 7, 2023.
The host and producer confirmed the event date towards the end of Tuesday’s Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase.
The event will be held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Public ticket sales and more details on the show will be published in the coming months.
Last year’s ninth edition of the annual event was a major production featuring musical performances from an on-stage orchestra and Hozier, celebrity guests, an awards show, new game reveals and more.
Major announcements included the long-anticipated reveals of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2 and BioShock creator Ken Levine’s new game Judas.
Other new games announced on the night were Hades 2, a Bayonetta prequel, and Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon.
Final Fantasy 16, Diablo 4, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League all received release dates, while Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarök were the biggest winners at the awards show.

The future of E3 is continuing to look bleak, but the games industry has seen the emergence of another major summer event in the form of Summer Game Fest. The event has been running for four years at this point and seen quite a bit of success, and unsurprisingly, it will be returning for its fifth year in 2025.
