, the free-to-play arena shooter that was released in December 2023, is quickly approaching the start of its second season and brings a host of new Gadgets, weapons, maps, and abilities. Season 2 officially begins on March 14, 2024, and also comes with a new game mode called Power Shift as well as a new map entitled SYS$HORIZON that embodies this season's new futuristic yet retro theme.
The limited lore and narrative in also continues, as the mysterious hacker group known as the CNS has infiltrated the online arena — changing reality as people know it and introducing a new game mode. In addition, the new concepts and maps in Season 2 will modify the gameplay and create new strategies for top-tier players.
The biggest changes coming to Season 2 of will surely shake the meta's foundation as people know it. Season 2 will introduce a variety of new mobility Gadgets and abilities, including the Gateway, Dematerializer, Data Reshaper, and Anti-Gravity Cube. These Gadgets and abilities change the battlefield's landscape, with the Gateway serving as a two-way grenade-like thrown portal that teammates (or anyone) can use to transport themselves to a point of interest instantly.
The Dematerializer and Data Reshaper quite literally change elements on the map and can be used to create holes in the fabric of reality. Practically, the Dematerlaizer can be used to remove walls or floors, which can be utilized to more easily access cash vaults and steal the cashout from another team. Lastly, while probably the least impressive or useful but the most fun, the Anti-Gravity Cube is a Heavy Gadget that can be used to create a low-gravity field in a specific area. These new items should be a great addition to the best Gadgets that exist currently.
Even during the short preview period, many people were discovering new and creative ways to utilize the latest additions to great effect.
Season 2 of also introduces a new weapon for each class, including the 93R machine pistol, Famas, and KS-23 slug shotgun for Light, Medium, and Heavy classes, respectively. The 93R is a quick-fire burst pistol that's great for lining up headshots and taking out enemies from medium-to-close range. It's a great addition to the Light class' arsenal, as it lacks many medium-range options outside the sniper rifle.
The Famas is also a nice introduction to the Medium's suite of guns and specializations, as it comes accompanied by a shorter-range scope that lends itself better at a distance than the default AK. Finally, the new KS-23 slug shotgun for Heavies should be a game changer, as its close-range capabilities give the tanks an option other than melee for those who like to get up close and personal.
