If you're interested in the human stories behind the evolution of the home console industry, then you might want to check out the latest project from award-winning publisher Lost in Cult and our fellow Hookshot Media site, Time Extension.
The Console Chronicles will span more than 400 pages, documenting the nine generations of home video gaming hardware. Starting with the early home Pong systems, the book will cover every major system – including the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 – via a series of features written by some of the best names in the business.
We can say this with some degree of certainty, as Push Square's very own Stephen Tailby and Aaron Bayne are just two of the many contributors to this book. Elsewhere from the Hookshot Media network, we've got Alana Hagues, Alex Olney, Gavin Lane, Ollie Reynolds, Fraser Gilbert, Liam Doolan and PJ O'Reilly.
These lovely people will be joined by the likes of Julian «Jaz» Rignall (C&VG, Mean Machines), Kurt Kalata (Hardcore Gaming 101), James Mielke (1UP), Sara Heritage, Christian Donlan (Eurogamer), Ashley Day (GamesTM), Jon Cartwright (Good Vibes Gaming), Darryl Still (Atari), Van Burnham (Supercade), Tom Charnock (The Dreamcast Junkyard) and many, many more.
The Console Chronicles will be sponsored by The Embracer Games Archive. Based in Karlstad, Sweden, The Embracer Games Archive is one of the most active forces in the realm of video game preservation, and its collection currently stands at over 80,000 games, consoles, and accessories.
If all of this sounds right up your street, then head over to Lost in Cult's site to pre-order a copy, thereby earning yourself a host of goodies, including a foil bookmark, two posters, a set of stickers, and your name immortalised in print in a special 'backers' section of the finished book.
Not only will you be guaranteeing yourself an amazing read, but you'll also be financially supporting the work done by both Lost in Cult and our teams here at Hookshot Media.
