Paradox Interactive is taking a big financial hit on the turn-based tactics game The Lamplighters League, saying that sales of the game have been «a big disappointment.» Paradox also confirmed that significant layoffs had been made at developer Harebrained Schemes, but clarified that those layoffs occurred in the summer, a few months before The Lamplighters League was released.

The wait for The Wolf Among Us 2 has been a long one, and at times, it’s looked entirely unlikely that the sequel would ever happen, though there has been strong hope that the reformed Telltale Games will be able to deliver the long-awaited game. However, it seems to have hit some significant productions issues.

Four years after all but shutting up shop in 2018, Telltale Games are once again laying off staff. The company let "most" of its employees go in September, according to former staffer and cinematic artist Jonah Huang, who began posting about the situation on Xitter earlier in the week. Telltale have now confirmed aspects of Huang's story, while declining to specify how many jobs have been chopped.

The tale of Telltale Games is much more than just a game studio that fell on hard times and had to rebuild itself. It’s a tale of a company that, at one point, had some of the most unique narrative-driven titles in the world and yet also had one of the most abusive in-house cultures in the world. Back in 2018, they had such an oppressive regime going on that they basically shut down the entire studio in a single day without taking care of any of the workers who had slaved away on their titles. They were rebuilt and seemed to be coming back strong, and now, it seems to be happening again.
