KFC just finished its unique Tears of the Kingdom speedrun competition, where the winner earned a golden trophy depicting a chicken thigh, valued at €11,000 (or roughly $11,587 dollars).
As reported by VGC, the goal for "The Recipe Run" was simple. Players had to find 11 herbs and spices and one raw bird drumstick and then cook it in a pot. This challenge was inspired by KFC's "original recipe" chicken and, while it might seem simple at first glance, there were a few key rules to make it more difficult.

To start with, you had to prove your inventory was completely empty, meaning no clothes, weapons, or items. Just like any good chef. You then had to acquire the 11 herbs and one drumstick. However, you could only buy the oil. Every other ingredient had to be locally sourced in-game.
That being said, the speedrun challenge allowed you to teleport across the map to find the best spots. That was especially handy since you had to cook the meal at Gomo's restaurant, Bedrock Bistro, due to his likeness to KFC's Colonel Sanders. However, glitches and exploits were banned - you had to play the game fair and square.
KFC held the competition with Speedrun Espanol, and eventually found its winner in French player Keuss. They managed to put together a succulent deep-fried drumstick in only one hour and seven minutes. It might not qualify as 'fast' food by that point, but it's impressive for a Tears of the Kingdom speedrun.
The winner wasn't the only contestant to earn a prize, however. As stated in The Recipe Run video, those participating were sent free KFC. You shouldn't keep an actual drumstick on display for too long, but some free grub is always appreciated.
In the world of 'beating the game' speedruns (why bother when you can deep fry chicken?), players have the time down to an impressive 43 minutes and 41 seconds. At launch, the record was 94 minutes, so the record has been more than halved. Granted, 94 minutes is still much faster than the 60 hours it took me, but I was busy taking in the sights... and dying.
KFC has also been busy with gaming collaborations this year. In May, it teamed up with Diablo 4, but only last week, it announced a collaboration with PUBG of all games, bringing Colonel Sanders to the battle royale along with a bunch of the restaurants themselves. Maybe you'll spot Link hanging around in one with Gomo and their golden drumstick.

In an unprecedented incident, the release date of iOS 17.1 might have been leaked by the French national frequency agency! The L'agence Nationale des Frequences (ANFR) revealed the roll-out date of the update in a notice it issued regarding the iPhone 12 radiation situation. For the unaware, the iPhone 12 in France displayed a higher radiation level than what it accepted as per the standards of the country. As a result, the iPhone 12 was promptly banned. Apple reached out to the French authorities and assured them that they would fix the issue in the upcoming iOS update. It appears that Apple also told them the date by which the problem will be solved, and ANFR has included it in its latest notice.

When cinematic legend William Friedkin died in August, most of the mournful obituaries focused on tributes to his eclectic body of work. Affectionately nicknamed “Hurricane Billy” for his force of personality and towering stature among the New Hollywood filmmakers, Friedkin produced a respectable, wide-ranging filmography, from Academy Award-sweepers like The French Connection to reappraised gems like the box-office bomb turned classic Sorcerer. Still, critics elevated one title over all the rest, one film that, even 50 years later, still has a firm grasp on popular culture: The Exorcist, which bears the tagline “the scariest movie of all time.”
