Tails Noir maker Eggnut is closing down

Legendary Japanese game developer and founder of Grasshopper Manufacture, Goichi «Suda51» Suda, has been involved with the creation and direction of many violent and action-heavy video games (and their main characters). From the hyper-sexualized chainsaw-wielding Juliet in Lollipop Chainsaw to the joke-cracking katana-wielding assassin Travis Touchdown inNo More Heroes, Suda knows how to make an interesting character and even more interesting (but sometimes divisive) video games.

Every community-uploaded Super Mario Maker has officially been beaten ahead of the end of the game’s online functionality.

Ever since it was announced that the 3DS and Wii U's online services would be shut down in April, a dedicated group of Super Mario Maker fans set out on a mission to complete every level in the game that was yet to be beaten. That sounds simple, but levels in Super Mario Maker usually remain unbeaten because they're monstrously difficult, with only a handful of players capable of even getting close to completing them.

A dedicated group of Super Mario Maker players have beaten all the levels uploaded to the game before the Wii U's services go offline. As Nintendo has been focused on the Nintendo Switch ever since its release in 2017, the Japanese gaming giant has also been phasing out the services of its previous consoles, the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. This closure would affect several games released on the console, including the first Super Mario Maker, a Wii U exclusive.

The rat's out of the bag: Tails of Iron is getting a squeak-uel. The well-liked 2D action RPG released back in 2021, and the follow-up, Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter, has just been announced. Coming to PS5, PS4, and basically everything else later this year, it looks like another enjoyable adventure in the debut trailer above.

Developer Odd Bug Studio and publisher United Label have announced a follow-up to 2021’s side-scrolling action RPG Tails of Iron. Titled Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter, the game was announced with a trailer (which you can view below), and will be coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2024.

New studio Critical Hit Games has announced the noir detective game Nobody Wants To Die for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, coming out later in 2024. The game is set in a future dystopian New York, the year 2329, where immortality is available for those that can afford it, able to swap bodies as they age. Essentially, it’s quite a bit like the novel and Netflix series Altered Carbon – the cinematic reveal trailer shows its own peculiar twists, though.

One of my favourite 'jokes'to do is parody Raymond Chandler, i.e. I shout "She had legs all the way up to her thighs!" and then laugh at myself. Chandlers's trademark "blonde to make a bishop kick a hole in a stained-glass window" kind of zingers are very hard to do well, so it's better to say you're doing Philip Marlow badly on purpose. The trailer for Nobody Wants To Die seems like it's self-seriousness is actually self-awareness. I mean, I kind of refuse to believe that hard-boiled future crime detective James Karra saying "I'm in the business of secrets... But it's more of an addiction... And I like 'em straight... No chaser..." while sipping from a glass of amber liquor isn't indulging in some amount of winking and nudging.
