Stellar Blade Demo is Now Live on PS5

With the recent release of the demo for hack-and-slash action game Stellar Blade, developer Shift Up has taken to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to tell its players to go easy on the game’s demo.

The highly-anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive Stellar Blade is already beating the recently-released RPG Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in terms of one major metric: daily active players for its demo. A new, unproven IP like Stellar Blade gaining higher player counts than a mainline game from an established franchise like Final Fantasy bodes well for the commercial success of the new sci-fi game.

The demo for Korean developer Shift Up’s action-adventure game Stellar Blade is out now – for real this time. The demo was accidentallypushed out early to the PlayStation Store a couple of weeks ago and quickly taken down, but players eager to give the game a spin can now do so without worry.

The Stellar Blade demo input lag that's been troubling a vocal section of the game's fandom since late March can reportedly be fixed by disabling the HDCP option in the PlayStation 5 settings. This was recently discovered by one inquisitive Stellar Blade player after some tinkering.

Stellar Blade's developer is already hiring for its next game, a "cross-platform next-gen project."

Shift Up is gearing up to face the spotlight of the mainstream gaming market with the imminent launch of Stellar Blade, but though the upcoming PlayStation-backed action-adventure game certainly has plenty of eyes on it, the Korean studio is seemingly also already thinking about what comes next.

Out now on PS5, the Stellar Blade demo offers up the first hour-and-a-bit of the Sony-published action title. As its April release date nears, it feels like anticipation for this flashy action game is at an all-time high — and first impressions have been positive pretty much across the board.

There's been a lot of chatter about this Stellar Blade demo recently. First, it was released accidentally, and although Sony took it back down pretty quickly, it wasn't fast enough to stop a few people playing and sharing footage online. So, we knew a demo was coming, and it wasn't much later that we got official confirmation. Now, the time has come: it's available to download and play right now on PS5. Stellar Blade is Sony’s big release for next month, but if you don’t want to wait, you can get a taste of the game today as a demo has just dropped (after being accidentally released for a minute earlier this month).
