The upcoming Star Wars Outlaws open-world adventure from Massive Entertainment is easily one of the most exciting projects on Ubisoft’s upcoming slate, but the French publisher has been somewhat sketchy about when the game may launch. The broad release window we’ve been given in 2024, but recent Ubisoft financial statements hinted an early 2024 release may have been pushed back.
Well, now we have a better idea of when Star Wars Outlaws will arrive, courtesy of the Star Wars overlords at Disney rather than Ubisoft themselves. According to a new Disney blog, Star Wars Outlaws is coming our way in late 2024…
“And for Star Wars fans – Star Wars Outlaws, the open-world Star Wars game is set to release late this year. The game lets you explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. You can risk it all as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. If you’re willing to take the risk, the galaxy is full of opportunity.”
Bring it on I say. The first gameplay footage of Star Wars Outlaws looked quite impressive, and Massive did a good job of bringing a current-gen-exclusive open-world based on existing IP to life recently with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Granted, Avatar also had some problems (check out my review here) but I suspect Massive will further polish and refine their licensed game formula with their first Star Wars project. Haven’t been keeping up with Star Wars Outlaws? Here are the key features…

A mod has transplanted the world of Star Wars Battlefront straight into Halo's classic multiplayer.
Just like the films, video games are almost always highly anticipated, and luckily, there are already some games lined up to look forward to in 2024 and beyond. George Lucas' creation has blossomed over decades into one of the largest media franchises in existence, with classic games like and standing as important contributions. Following Disney's acquisition of the IP, Electronic Arts was the sole publisher allowed to release officially licensed games. That is no longer the case, and other companies have joined the roster of upcoming titles.
We already knew that Ubisoft was plotting a 2024 launch for its open world sci-fi shooter Star Wars Outlaws, but a since-edited post on a Disney Parks blog may have nailed down more precisely when we can expect to visit a galaxy far, far away. Multiple outlets, including IGN, noticed the original blurb referenced a “late this year” release window for the title – but that line’s since been edited to a more neutral “in 2024”.
Since launching in December, LEGO Fortnite has skyrocketed to an average of two million-plus daily average users.
When Star Wars Outlaws was formally unveiled in June, Ubisoft handed it a general 2024 release window, and that release window was seemingly narrowed down by a recent Disney blog post that stated the open world action-adventure game would be out sometime in “late” 2024.
Star Wars fans looking forward to Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws got an update to the game's release timing yesterday — and then didn't.
Yesterday (January 2), it temporarily appeared that Star Wars Outlaws’ vague 2024 release had been narrowed down with an all-new launch window. However, Ubisoft has now stated that this was an error, and the old, incorrect information has already been removed.
Star Wars Outlaws is the biggest and most significant release Ubisoft has planned for this year, and it certainly looked impressive in its first showings back in June. In a new preview published by Kotaku, more brief details have been revealed on the action-adventure title’s open world setting and what players can expect from it.
Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft's expansive open-world game set in the galaxy far, far away, was briefly known to be eyeing a ‘late 2024' release window, as per a recent Disney Parks blog. That has since been corrected to reflect a general timespan this year, with the publisher confirming to Kotaku that the timing was incorrectly displayed. First revealed during an Xbox Showcase last year, the title is set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi movies, and introduces Kay Vess, a space scoundrel with a bounty on her head after botching up a job. Joining her on the crusade is the adorable axolotl-like alien Nix, performing certain actions at your command — akin to the BD-1 droid from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Disney dropped a blog post today teasing what the House of Mouse has in store for fans across the next 12 months. Among the things the company reaffirmed was that Star Wars Outlaws is indeed coming this year.
A report stemming from a Disney Parks blog post earlier today suggested that the upcoming Ubisoft game would be coming out in late 2024. However, Ubisoft has since clarified the post in a statement.
