Director Stig Asmussen, who worked onStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, is leaving Respawn Entertainment. In a statement to Bloomberg, an Electronic Arts spokesperson said, “After careful thought and consideration, Stig Asmussen has decided to leave Respawn to pursue other adventures, and we wish him the best of luck.”
Work will continue on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor with “veteran Respawn leaders” guiding the team. It’s currently working on porting the action-adventure title to PS4 and Xbox One while further improving performance on current-gen consoles and PC. A recent patch “completely reworked” its 60 FPS mode on consoles to generally positive results.
As for what this means for the future of the Star Wars Jedi series, Asmussen said he “always wanted to see this as a trilogy” while indicating that the team could eventually shift to Unreal Engine 5 for development. EA CEO Andrew Wilson also said he would “love” to see more from the franchise and that the publisher has an “incredible relationship” with Disney and LucasArts.
Time will tell, as always, so stay tuned for further updates in the future. Check out our review for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in the meantime.
