Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster launches February 28, 2024

Star Wars: Dark Forces is the latest nineties' PC gaming classic to receive an overhaul from remastering maestros Nightdive Studios. But as this month's PC Gamer magazine reveals, LucasArts' shooter has proved unusually challenging from a technical perspective. Speaking to PCG's print editor Robert Jones, Nightdive's project lead on Dark Forces explains the game features a homebrew equivalent to modern multi-threading that was years ahead of its time.

Zynga’s upcoming free-to-play multiplayer combat game, Star Wars: Hunters, has once again been delayed, and is now slated for release at some point in 2024. 

A long time ago, in a press release that now seems far, far away, mobile game maker Zynga announced arena squad shooter Star Wars: Hunters for Nintendo Switch and smartphones.

Ubisoft reported its first half of 2023-24 earnings yesterday. The financial results were pretty good for the company, which registered record net booking for the first half of a fiscal year and also outperformed Q2 guidance thanks to the successful launches of Assassin's Creed Mirage and The Crew Motorfest and the overperformance of back catalog games.

With 2023 starting to get wrapped up, all eyes are slowly moving to 2024, where we’ll get new games to be hyped about. Whether it’s big AAA titles or games that hope to start new franchises, there is already plenty to look forward to. For example, Ubisoft shocked many people when it announced Star Wars Outlaws during several gaming special events in June. The game will be an original story starring the smuggler Kay Vess, but it’s set during the period of the original movies. The game looks good and seems to be rather expansive with what you can do in it. However, its release date was only given as “2024.”

Gemdrops’ Star Ocean: The Second Story R launches next week, and as a remake of the 1999 PlayStation One classic, it looks very good. A launch trailer is available, showcasing stunning visuals, high-quality character portraits and more. Check it out below.

Publisher Square Enix and developer Gemdrops have released the launch trailer for action RPG remake Star Ocean: The Second Story R, as well as details on the rest of the game’s party, the Ten Wise Men, Assault Actions, and New Game+.

Star Wars Dark Forces Remaster is going to be released on February 28th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. The confirmation came from Nightdive Studios, who originally announced the remaster back in August. If you missed it you can watch the reveal trailer below.

There's finally a release date for the upcoming Star Wars: Dark Forces remaster, and fans will be happy to know that it's not that far away.
