Sega has released a Sonic Superstars trailer to celebrate the release of the free DLC costume.
The costume, which is now available for no cost, puts Sonic in a Shadow the Hedgehog outfit and gives him a more stern glance. He also has Shadow’s shoes, which create a slightly different effect than usual when Sonic runs fast enough.
You can view the trailer on YouTube below:
The game is now available physically and digitally on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Sonic Superstars lets you play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose, while Eggman is accompanied by Fang the Sniper, who first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble in 1994. The character has primarily appeared in cameo roles in games like Sonic Generations and Sonic Mania in the years since.
Shadow is set to appear in the upcoming updated remaster Sonic x Shadow Generations, which will seemingly feature characters and stages from previous games Shadow was featured in. Additionally, Shadow will be a major part of the upcoming movie sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which will debut in theaters on December 20, 2024.

Elden Ring has seen a significant rise in players after developer FromSoftware released a trailer for its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
Some creative modders of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk have added custom levels inspired by popular Sonic the Hedgehog games. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a skateboarding indie action platformer game by Team Reptile that was released on August 18, 2023. In it, players control a young member of a gang, Red of the Bomb Rush Crew, as they use inline skates and other extreme sports equipment to travel the city of New Amsterdam, spray-painting the city and claiming territory control over rival gangs. Players can get around the city by skateboarding and rail-grinding around the area.
A new leak has allegedly revealed the name of the rumored Fall Guys-inspired Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off, which is said to be titled Sonic Toys Party. On top of that, this leak has supposedly stated that the game will support up to 32 players in its multiplayer mode. This spin-off is likely to be a part of the franchise's momentum for 2024, as Sega has previously expressed interest in developing Sonic titles exclusively for mobile devices.
Sega executives have suggested that competition with Super Mario Bros. Wonder hurt the sales of Sonic Superstars when it was first released. The latest 2D iteration of the classic franchise, featuring a speedy hedgehog, was launched last year to average reviews and notably poor sales. Sonic Superstars managed to replicate much of the old-school gameplay of the series but seemingly failed to wow critics or fans, and this translated to a disappointing launch.
Sonic Superstars released in October last year, delivering the first new sidescrolling game in the series since Sonic Mania, though it hasn’t performed the way Sega would have expected it to. Shotly after the game’s release, the company revealed that the game had seen “a slightly weaker start than anticipated”, attributing that partly to the fact that the game had released in a particularly busy period that also saw the release of the likes of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, and many others.
Sega executives have implied that Super Mario Bros Wonder was responsible for Sonic Superstars selling fewer copies than expected.
DLC finally has a release date and received a new trailer alongside the announcement. In true FromSoftware fashion, there are a lot of hidden details and new enemies in the trailer. But that also means there's plenty of room for speculation while waiting for the DLC to fully release.
Two years ago, we learned of one of the greatest video game heroes of all time: a man wearing nothing but a jar atop his head.
FromSoftware's leadElden Ringdesigner, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has confirmed that the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion will again feature the Souls series' notorious poisoned swamps. The confirmation follows the company's recent announcement regarding Elden Ring's first major expansion.
FromSoftware has commented on George R. R. Martin's involvement in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, confirming that the upcoming DLC will once again feature lore that the famous author has penned for the studio. However, the Japanese developer did not actually bring back George R. R. Martin to specifically work on the upcoming Elden Ring expansion.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is available to pre-order now and comes in multiple editions, including a $250 Collector's Edition that comes with an 18-inch tall statue, hardcover artbook, and more. Elden Ring fans can also pre-order the DLC's standard edition for a much more reasonable price, which still comes with its own pre-order bonus.
