That said, even an industry so entrenched in the now can learn from its past. So to refresh our collective memory and perhaps offer some perspective on our field's history, GamesIndustry.biz runs this monthly feature highlighting happenings in gaming from exactly a decade ago.

It might have surprised some fans of Call of Duty that hip-hop star Nicki Minaj would be entering the game franchise. We reported about this last month when the news first broke. But today, thanks to a tweet from the ModernWarzone Twitter account, we know when the next skin will drop, highlighting female artist Nicki Minaj. 

No one under the age of 18 wants to think about going back to school, but Bus Simulator 21’s upcoming expansion will make the event a pastime for millions of players across PS5 and PS4. Officially licensed by real-world US school bus manufacturer Blue Bird, the add-on will incorporate numerous new public transport missions – including all-important school trips.

Today, we’re finding out that Ubisoft is throwing together a closed beta of Skull & Bones which you can sign up for and attempt to gain access to. Here’s what we know so far regarding the upcoming beta.

A closed beta for hero-based extraction shooter Hyenas will kick off on 31st August, Sega and Creative Assembly have announced, alongside the release of the latest gameplay trailer. You can register to join the PC playtest via Steam.
