Side-scrolling Metroidvania game Somber Echoes announced for PC

Publisher eXtend and developers Toybox Inc. and Karakuri-ism have announced Side Kicks! beyond, a Switch, iOS, and Android port of the otome visual novel Side Kicks! originally released for PS Vita in March 2017. It will launch in 2025 in Japan.

Publisher United Label and developer Odd Bugg Studio have announced medieval adventure RPG sequel Tails of Iron II: Whiskers of Winter for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC (Steam). It will launch in 2024.

Publisher Headup Games and developer Bleakmill have announced INDUSTRIA II, a sequel to the narrative first-person shooter INDUSTRIA set in an alternate dimension dominated by a malevolent artificial intelligence. It will launch for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in 2025.

Publisher Secret Mode and developer Sumo Newcastle have announced DEATHSPRINT 66, an eight-player on-foot racing game coming to PC via Steam in 2024.

Epic Games has shown off the future of its powerful Unreal Engine, including a first glimpse at Amy Hennig's Captain America and Black Panther game, and closer integration of the eye-catching MetaHumans tech into UEN, during this year's annual State of Unreal broadcast by the company.

Ontario-based developer Game Pill has announced HANGRY, a “snack ‘n slash RPG” coming to PC via Steam. A release date was not announced.

Tales Of Kenzera: Zau is an upcoming Metroidvania game that integrates the aesthetics of Afrofuturism and the culture surrounding Bantu mythology. The game aims to utilize the challenges posed by the Metroidvania format to explore themes of grief. Published by EA, Tales of Kenzera: Zau is expected to release on April 23 on PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. In December 2023 at The Game Awards, Abubakar Salim, who gamers may recognize for voicing Bayek in Assassin's Creed: Origins, unveiled that this game is being made by his company, Surgent Studios.

Publisher Noodlecake and developer Hildring Studio will release side-scrolling hack-and-slash adventure game Sacre Bleu for Switch and PC via Steam in 2024, the companies announced.

The Summer Game Fest returns on June 7th, streaming from the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. It airs at 2 PM PT/5 PM ET/9 PM GMT and will run for two hours, showcasing “what’s next in gaming.”
