A rumour is currently doing the rounds, suggesting that we could learn more about 2K's plans for the Mafia series' future (or perhaps past) in the days ahead. A new game was confirmed to be in development back in 2022, potentially a prequel, and we've heard virtually nothing since. But the source says the reveal could just as easily involve a next-gen update for Mafia: Definitive Edition, so we'll have to wait and see.
«Video game researcher» Kurakasis made the claim on Twitter (thanks, VGC), whose prodding this year alone revealed the title of Amy Hennig's new game, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, amongst other discoveries. According to Kurakasis, judging by the amount of time it took to spin up the recent Judas trailer (which Kurakasis also predicted), we should learn more in the coming weeks.
It's official
What would you hope to see, a new entry in the Mafia series or a PS5 update with all the bells and whistles? Let us know in the comments section below.

A next gen update would be great.
The messed up the original Mafia remake. Lets hope this one is going improve upon their open world formula as their environments are quite empty.
Hopefully it isn't empty like every other Mafia game.
Yes please. Mafia Definitive Edition was absolutely brilliant, I’d rather one like that instead of a checklisty open-world thing like Mafia 3.
New Hanger 13 prequel to Mafia or what?
Mafia: now with loot boxes, 3 types of currency and a shop! They have got to fleece us somehow!
@CieloAzure
Yes, that would be fun. But I'm starting to get a little tired of next gen updates. All old stuff in a newer guise. It's time for full-fledged games and successors. So bring on Mafia 4!
@nessisonett Have you ever played the Godfather on PS3? Was from EA I believe. That was a really cool game. Measure a little bit of SIM aspects into it.
As long as they fix the police, I'll be happy. Mafia 3 suffers from the same problem GTA has where you shoot someone and the police know exactly where you are, even if you're on a roof which was really annoying for trying to play in a stealth style.
They should probably fix the trophy bugs that have been plaguing mafia 3 for years before they make a new game.
@FantasyExplor3r88 no they didn’t? What was wrong with it?
I want Mafia 4, an all new game. The remake of the original was much needed and was a good remake. Mafia 2 and 3 are fine as they are

If you were hoping the news Housemarque has to share tomorrow is a Returnal sequel announcement, you may want to rein your expectations in by quite a significant amount.
Kingdom Hearts IV will grace PS5 boxes next year, according to the increasingly reliable online tipster Daniel Richtman (DanielRPK). The TV and film leaker posted to his Patreon that he's heard about a 2025 release date for Kingdom Hearts IV, just days after his claim Sonic Frontiers 2 is in development was backed up by another reliable insider in Midori. The rumour may suggest we'll see more of the Square Enix title later in 2024 after two years of radio silence since its reveal.
Despite some early bumps in the road, Sonic the Hedgehog's live action movie adaptations have been a big success. A third film is due to arrive at the tail end of 2024, and if it's anything like its predecessors, it'll not only boom at the box office, but it'll also be another entertaining all-ages flick the whole family can enjoy. We have confidence it can achieve that after watching Knuckles, a TV mini-series spin-off that's just as fun as its big screen counterparts, if not more so.
Following the collapse of a «verbal agreement» reportedly worth $2 billion with the Saudi-funded Savvy Games, Embracer Group entered into a brutal nine-month restructuring programme that resulted in the loss of some 1,400 employees and the cancellation of dozens of unannounced games. CEO Lars Wingefors, whose actions were recently defended by Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch («give Lars a break»), in a new interview, says: «As a leader and an owner, sometimes you need to take the blame.»
Originally published all the way back in 2000 as a standalone manga, it's strange, but not unwelcome, to see Sand Land be revived as both an anime series and a video game almost a quarter of a century later. Authored by the late and legendary Akira Toriyama, Sand Land is an incredibly charming story about a post-apocalyptic world, where a cocky demon prince is roped into helping out what's left of humanity.
UK studio and publisher Kwalee has revealed recent staff cuts were made to «reshape» the company's business around «significant growth opportunities.» The company has layed off approximately 10% of its workforce, around 40 people, in recent months. Despite that, Kwalee stressed it expects to grow its headcount (currently about 400) to somewhere between 410 and 420.
16 more games are heading to PS Plus through the Extra and Premium tiers this month, and as is often the case, there's quite a lot of variety on show. April's offering is headlined by not one, not two, but three brand new releases on PS5 and PS4: the incredibly highly rated Dave the Diver, the promising Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, and Animal Well. Although technically, ZAU is out a little later in the month, and Animal Well is out in May.
Building on an article published overnight, The Verge has another post that largely reiterates past reporting from Insider Gaming covering what Sony has planned for its PS5 Pro and the upgrades it will bring to current games. Reported first at the start of April but now confirmed through more sources, Sony is reportedly allowing developers to tag their titles as «PS5 Pro Enhanced» after applying one of a few different upgrades.
If the new Alone in the Dark PS5 reboot has given you a classic survival horror itch, then Sony's subscription service PS Plus Premium is looking to scratch it. Available from Tuesday, 16th April 2024, the old PS1 terror Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare will be available to members on the top tier, complete with all the bells and whistles that come with the re-releases Sony accepts on the service. It's joined by MediEvil and Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire on the same day.
Amazon's excellent adaptation of the Fallout series for TV is available in its entirety now, and we loved it. However, not every Fallout fan is happy with how it seemingly rewrites what was thought to be established series lore, apparently retconning the ending of beloved black sheep, Fallout: New Vegas. Obviously, major spoilers for both New Vegas and Amazon's show to follow!
GSC Game World has published PS4 patches for the three games that make up the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy. Following its surprise release last month, the developer has now updated the three titles with fixes that should address a variety of save, crashing, and bug-related flaws. The patch notes are the following:
