Rockstar Games faces backlash over GTA 6 development team's mandatory office return

The League of Legends MMORPG, which Riot Games had been working on for quite some time, has seemingly had its development process reset. As spotted by VideoGamesChronicle, studio co-founder Marc Merrill elaborated on how the game’s development is going through a long thread on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

With the hype of GTA 6 it seems some of Rockstar’s others games are falling through the cracks and fans are sad about it. Red Dead Redemption 2 has been out since 2017, and it was a Wild West game that many didn’t want to put down. With GTA 5 having come out years earlier, 2013, it was exciting to have a new game from Rockstar that featured multiplayer.

Dark and Darker is heading to Epic Games Store, having previously been removed from Steam, and following a drawn out legal dispute with Nexon.

The hiatus is over and the Florida Joker has reignited his feud with gaming giant Rockstar Games. Lawrence Sullivan, known for his striking resemblance to a character in the GTA 6 trailer, took to TikTok on March 16, 2024, and he expressed disinterest in engaging with the gaming franchise. Yet, just a day later, on March 17, 2024, Lawrence Sullivan aka Florida Joker resurfaced with another video directed at Rockstar Games.

The highly anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection has finally been released across PC and consoles, although much to the disappointment of the fanbase, it's gotten off to a rather rough start. Namely, those trying to get stuck into the multiplayer modes as the collection launched have faced some massive issues, mainly thanks to an enormous lack of servers available to choose from. 

Ever since the first GTA 6 trailer was released, fans have been requesting Rockstar Games for more information about its upcoming game. Now, the Take-Two Interactive-owned company might be gearing up to release GTA 6 Trailer 2 and it has sparked a frenzy on social media. A massive hype was seen when Rockstar unveiled the GTA 6 trailer, with the video shattering records, becoming the most-watched non-music video in 24 hours. Could GTA 6 Trailer 2 spark the same excitement among Grand Theft Auto fans?

emptyvessel, a new independent AAA games studio formed of veteran developers based in Austin, Texas, has announced its establishment. The studio’s founding staff has worked on iconic franchises such as DOOM, Quake, Call of Duty, The Last of Us, Borderlands, Tomb Raider, The Callisto Protocol, and more. Its first title is an Unreal Engine-5 powered title that will leverage its experience in the “immersive shooter” space.

The anticipation surrounding GTA 6 has reached new heights! Rockstar Games has officially added the title to its prestigious roster of games on the company's website. Fans were quick to notice the exciting development, with the Games section now proudly featuring a GTA 6 banner showcasing the upcoming game's female lead, Lucia, and her yet-to-be-named partner, which is speculated to be Jason.

If you wanted to buy any of the games in the Command & Conquer Ultimate Collection, Dungeon Keeper, or Sim City 3000 - but didn't want to do it on GOG where they were already on sale - then rejoice! EA has made these classics and more, and for some reason The Saboteur, available on Steam for the first time. You can see the full list of games here. I don't have anything specific against The Saboteur, but I do think it's very funny that the list goes, like, "beloved game from the 90s, beloved game from the 90s, 7/10 action game from 2009, beloved game from the 90s". Also, I can take the opportunity to make fun of Graham and James, the tallest wrongest boys at RPS, who apparently both liked it.

A newly emerged job listing from Rockstar may have helped narrow down the Grand Theft Auto 6 release window, suggesting that the highly anticipated game could hit the market as early as Q2 2025. But even if Rockstar is indeed targeting that time frame, Grand Theft Auto 6 still has a chance to slip into the second half of 2025.
