The Bond you build between characters in can create romances, unlock side quests, and more. Gifts are the best way to deepen the relationships you have with your favorite companions, allowing those allies to give you access to new gear, weapon styles, and even skill points. The right items presented to various characters will let their Bond with you grow much faster as your journey continues.
Multiple items hold the same value to characters as other gifts, making some presents build individual Bonds equally. The most common example of this comes from the Knot of Destiny, a consumable item that you can get from random encounters, chests, or side quests in . You'll need to find duplicates of some objects since they will be the best gift item for more than one character.
Whenever you have a gift to offer someone in, you need to start a conversation with someone to bring up the right prompt for handing over a present. When you start talking to a companion who you can build a Bond with, select the dialogue option. This will take you to a screen where your inventory will be pulled up as you choose which item to give to that character.
If you are unable to find where a character is located to start a conversation, go to the tab from the main menu and select who you want to talk to. The location of that individual should then show up on your map depending on what region you are currently in. Companion characters are often within your Longhouse, a hub location that you normally travel to a lot during your adventure in.
As you can see in the above video by YouTube creator EGL, picking the right dialogue prompts with companions will also improve your Bond with them. All items given to a character will raise your Bond, but items that resonate with them will improve your relationship faster. When you offer an item to someone, the menu will open, giving you a chance to choose an item that connects with whoever you're talking to.
With nearly 40 different characters you can develop Bonds with, there are a ton of items you have to track down. Some gifts are given as quest rewards, while others are found dropped by enemies or in chests like the Knot of Destiny. Those looking to build a romance in can quickly choose these items for each character to improve their relationships with different companions:
Some gift items may need to be bought with in-game currency from different shops in the world. As you travel to new regions, check with NPC vendors to see if they have the objects you need.
