Red, White, and Royal Blue sequel in the works at Prime Video

When Sega cancelled multiplayer shooter HYENAS last year, it said developer Creative Assembly would be reverting to focusing on strategy titles going forward, a genre the studio has become synonymous with thanks to its Total War games. Now, a report claims that multiple of those titles are currently in the works at the studio.

Creative Assembly, the studio best known for their strategy Total War series, are rumoured to be working on a licensed Star Wars title. ‘Rumoured’ is the key word here, mind. Dualshockers credit “a reliable source” with the information that “three new Total War games are currently in development,” and that “one of the three new projects is expected to be a Star Wars-themed Total War game.” There’s currently no further information beyond that, I’m afraid, although I’ve reached out to Creative Assembly for comment.

We kind of already knew about this, thanks to a report from last year, but now it's all official. Amazon Prime Video has greenlit a live-action Tomb Raider TV series, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge attached as writer and executive producer. Here's the official post on the Tomb Raider site.

The series will be written and executive produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

In late January 2023, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Amazon was developing an interconnected Tomb Raider universe made of games, film, and TV.

A group of former XCOM and Civilisation developers have co-founded a new studio, Midsummer Studios, who plan to “revitalise the life sim genre” with their debut release. The latter doesn’t have a title yet, and is described as “a next-gen Life Sim that emphasizes player-driven narratives, allowing communities to share memorable moments that grow out of the creativity of players themselves.” According to former XCOM and Marvel’s Midnight Suns director Jake Solomon, it’s “focused on the drama of modern life, where our players will write meaningful stories just by playing, and then share those stories with the world.”
