UPDATE 4/4: The problems with the PlayStation Network did not last long at all. According to Sony, PSN services have all been fully restored, with the PSN Status page updated accordingly.
Original story follows.
PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 gamers may be experiencing some difficulty playing games online right now, as PSN is currently down. All online services go down occasionally, but luckily for PlayStation fans, PSN downtimes are typically not all that long.
Last month, PSN went down for a couple of hours, with users unable to play online games or access any of the platform's other online features. Now it seems a similar problem is happening right now, with various users reporting issues connecting to PlayStation Network. It's unclear exactly how widespread these problems are, so there may be some individuals that are able to log in and play normally, but things are bad enough that Sony has acknowledged it on the official PlayStation Network status page.
According to the PSN status page, all PlayStation Network services are experiencing problems right now, except for Account Management. These problems seem to have started at some point after 11:00am CT on Thursday, April 4. No timetable has been released indicating when exactly PlayStation gamers can expect the ongoing issues with PSN to be resolved, but hopefully, fans don't have to wait too much longer.
We will update this article as soon as PlayStation Network services have been fully restored.

Sony has updated the Extra tier of its PlayStation Plus subscription service to add Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, a brand-new, day one release. PlayStation Plus isn't exactly known for its day one releases, especially when compared to Xbox Game Pass, but that doesn't mean that the service is totally without day one games. In fact, numerous day one games have been added to PlayStation Plus over the years.
Yet another update is readily available for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 players to download right now. Insomniac Games has released multiple updates for Spider-Man 2 since first launching the game last year. Spider-Man 2 earned rave reviews from fans and critics alike at the time of its release, but there's always room for improvement, and Insomniac has definitely improved the game with the various updates it's released so far.
Behaviour Interactive has released a brand-new update for the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight that actually reduces the overall file size for the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions. As a live service game, Dead by Daylight is supported with frequent updates. The more exciting updates add brand-new Killers and Survivors to the mix, but there are equally important updates that address balance issues, fix bugs, and more.
The latest update to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription service lineup has added four games for players to check out, including three titles that were not previously announced. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is, as its name suggests, the ultimate version of Xbox Game Pass. It gives subscribers access to everything available in the other tiers, including PC Game Pass games, along with access to titles in the EA Play library.
Nintendo hosted yet another Indie World showcase where Hollow Knight: Silksong was nowhere to be seen. Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced in 2019, and fans have been anxious to play the game ever since. Unfortunately, the wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong has been an incredibly long one, with little in the way of any substantial updates on the game or its progress since its initial announcement.
Blizzard has pulled the curtain back on the full patch notes for Overwatch 2 Season 10, set to launch on Tuesday, April 16. The headlining new addition in Overwatch 2 Season 10 is the long-awaited debut of brand-new Damage hero Venture.
The highly-anticipated and long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong has been rated in Australia, which is just the latest encouraging update for the Metroidvania game. The original Hollow Knight game was a big success, earning widespread positive reviews for successfully blending the exploration elements of the Metroidvania genre with the tough-as-nails boss fights associated with FromSoftware's Soulslike games.
The latest update for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth made an important change not mentioned in the patch notes by changing the wording of the retry screen. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth features all kinds of adrenaline-fueled, over-the-top battles. The action-packed encounters can be rather lengthy, especially when it comes to the game's multi-phase boss battles.
In the wake of the Fallout TV series premiere, Bethesda has confirmed that Fallout 4 is getting a massive update on Thursday, April 25. It then gained even more attention when it was announced that Foamstars would be released as a free PS Plus game on the very day of its release.
