Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Combat and Exploration Showcased in New Gameplay Overview Trailer

While this month doesn’t have as many big games as last year, there are still titles like Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown to look forward to. As a 2D Metroidvania title akin to the classic games, it stars Sargon, a warrior and member of the Immortals, on a journey to rescue Prince Ghassan.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is looking more and more like the revival the beloved franchise has been in desperate need of for so long every time we see more of it, and apparently, it’s also going to be quite a meaty experience.

Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is one of the bigger releases this month and the first follow-up in the series since 2010’s Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. Publications like Game Informer went hands-on with the title before launch, revealing nearly 20 minutes of action-packed gameplay. Check it out below.

Ubisoft Montpelier’s Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, a 2.5 side-scroller in the long-running series, has finally gone gold. The game’s official Twitter announced the same, with the developer stating it can’t wait for players to “explore mythological Persia as Sargon.”

At The Game Awards, we were treated to a story snippet and a playable demo, and now we've got an expansive overview trailer to gush over.

Brutal. When you're a gamer who regularly tries to sink or swim in the deep end of difficulties, like I do, that word is one of the most complimentary you can use. And I've got to say it: after a 3-hour blind run into the Immortal difficulty of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, it has all the makings of being deliciously, refreshingly brutal.

The Prince of Persia has had it rough in the past few years. Following the release of the 2008 game, which rebooted the franchise for the second time and its direct sequel, the series has been pretty much dormant, with Ubisoft releasing only some minor titles. The indefinite delay of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for one of the longest-running series still active today.
