Age of Empires, the popular PC strategy game, is now available for preregistration on Android. The game is expected to be released on August 19, 2024, on mobile. In October 2022, during the Age of Empires 25th anniversary, Microsoft dropped the news that we’d be getting a mobile version of the game. So, before you pre-register for Age of Empires, let’s give you a quick lowdown on the game.
Age of Empires is quite an old game! It’s been around since October 1997. It’s a strategy game where you’re in charge of growing a civilization from olden times, starting with the Stone Age. You get to manage your resources, look around new lands, research new tech and fight battles in different times in history.
Every civilization gets its own set of perks, troops and tech. Over the years, Age of Empires has rolled out multiple sequels and remastered versions. For those in China, there’s already a version of the Age of Empires mobile called Return to Empire by Tencent.
Ensemble Studios developed the original title for PCs. The upcoming mobile version is made by TiMi Studio, which is part of Tencent. They’re teaming up with Microsoft who owns the game franchise. This will be the first time you can play an Age of Empires game on your mobile.
If you Pre-register for Age of Empires early on Android, you can snag some cool goodies as more people join. When 100,000 people have signed up, you get 150K Wood, Food, Stone and Gold each. It hits 500,000 and you’ll get a one-hour boost for building, researching and training troops faster. If they get to a million, you’ll get two Legendary Arrival Recruitment Tokens and 1,000 Empire Coins.
