Pokemon gave away a Van Gogh Pikachu promo card through its crossover event with a museum in Amsterdam and well, it could have gone better. The museum was mobbed with Pokemon fans eager to get their hands on the limited edition card, and its site buckled under the pressure on multiple occasions. Not to be deterred by that chaos, Pokemon's next TCG promo event has been revealed, offering people the chance to pick up an exclusive card free of charge and send another to a friend for the holidays.
Dubbed PokePost, Serebii reports that the pop-ups linked to the promotion will start appearing across the UK and Europe starting this weekend. Attendees will have to choose between a Pikachu card and an Eevee one, but the card you dismiss won't go to waste, nor will it go to someone else standing in line. The card you don't pick will be sent to a friend of your choosing, although it's unclear if Pokemon takes care of that for you or if the PokePosting is down to you.

There doesn't appear to be any purchase necessary to get the cards, nor does it seem like anything else will be on sale at the PokePost pop-ups. There will be people dressed as Pikachu and Eevee waiting to meet you there though apparently, so that'll be nice. The PokePosts will be open from 10 am to 7:30 pm local time on each of the dates above, and if I were you, I'd show up early. With no booking system in place, if you want a card, I'm guessing you'll have to wait a while.
Pokemon has a chance to get back in fans' good graces on the TCG front with this promotion after the Van Gogh fiasco. It will also have multiple chances to get this right since it will be touring eight cities over the course of the next month. Not that it will want everything to go wrong in Edinburgh so organizers have to figure out how to make the system work in time for the Cardiff date four days later.
Pokemon is pretty eager to give its fans something for free this festive season. On top of Pokemon cards being handed out, you can also get a free Pikachu ornament with any purchase at the Pokemon Center for a limited time. At the other end of the scale, Pokemon has teamed up with Tiffany & Co. to create a jewelry range headlined by a $31,000 solid gold Pikachu pendant.
