Niantic, the developer of Pokemon GO, hosts several events for the popular mobile game every month. Pokemon GO's Community Day and Raid Day events are especially rewarding for trainers, since encounter rates and XP gains are greatly increased. The new Pokemon GO Weather Week event begins on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 10:00 am local time and lasts until Monday, March 18, 2024, at 8:00 pm. During the event, Pokemon GO players may encounter select Pokemon more frequently in the wild in certain weather conditions. For example, the chances of encountering Roggenrola in Pokemon GO are greater than normal when the weather is partly cloudy. Some Pokemon, including Paras and Drifloon, will appear more frequently, regardless of the weather conditions that are active. Players can also earn extra Stardust from catching Pokemon and potentially capture a Shiny Castform, thanks to its boosted overall encounter rate.
Multiple raids ranging from one-star to Mega will be held during the Weather Week event, with the opportunity to capture popular Pokemon like Poliwhirl, Gastly, Charizard, and Lickitung. July 2023's Mega Tyranitar raid will return, giving Pokemon GO players another opportunity to potentially encounter and capture a Shiny Tyranitar. A variety of Weather Week-themed Field Research tasks will be available as well. Completing the new Field Research tasks awards players with boosts to encounter rates for the featured Weather Week Pokemon. Additional rewards, such as Stardust and Incense, may be earned by completing Collection Challenges during Weather Week.
