A Pokemon fan has designed their own take on what a Paradox form for Generation 2 Legendary Pokemon Lugia might look like. Lugia is one of the most recognizable Legendary Pokemon in the entire Pokemon franchise. The Psychic/Flying-type Pokemon was featured as the box art Legendary for Pokemon Silver and Pokemon SoulSilver, plus its variant Shadow Lugia was featured prominently in Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness on the GameCube.
Not only has Lugia had a major role to play in the video games, but the creature has also made waves in the Pokemon anime series. In fact, Lugia was one of the main characters inPokemon the Movie 2000: The Power of One. Lugia's first appearance in the anime was notable as it marked one of the very rare occasions of a Pokemon actually speaking in a language humans can understand. With Lugia being one of the most popular Pokemon in existence, it's no surprise that it has been featured regularly in the main series Pokemon video games as well.
Lugia was not available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet at first, but it can now be traded to the Switch games, and it can even be caught in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. Lugia appears in its traditional form in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but some fans have wondered what it could look like if it had a Paradox form. Reddit user shunixe shared the latest interpretation of a Paradox form for Lugia, making it bipedal, giving the creature a more intimidating appearance, and naming it Silver Storm. Fans responded positively to the art, with one suggesting that this Paradox Lugia should be a Dragon/Fighting-type, and others asking for the artist to share their interpretation of Ho-Oh, Lugia's Pokemon Gold counterpart.
Paradox Pokemon, for those who may not have played Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, are essentially reinterpretations of existing Pokemon. The idea is that Paradox Pokemon are distant ancestors or far-future descendants of Pokemon, and so they somewhat resemble their present-day counterparts, but have unique features that are either prehistoric or technological. There's been a lot of Pokemon fan art creating new Paradox Pokemon ever since Pokemon Scarlet and Violet hit the Switch in 2022.
Lugia in particular has been a popular subject for Paradox Pokemon fan art. Other artists have designed their own takes on the creature, with one future Paradox Lugia giving the creature a submersible-themed redesign.
Others have stuck have dreamed up what prehistoric Lugia would look like, with impressive results. It seems unlikely that future Pokemon games will continue the Paradox trend, so fan art will have to suffice in place of Game Freak ever creating its own take on Paradox Lugia.
