PlayStation Plus Season of Play Kicked Off With Free PS Plus Multiplayer Weekend, Avatars and Stars Campaign

Sony has insisted multiple times over the years that Microsoft’s Game Pass-centric model is not one that would work for PlayStation. The company has made it abundantly clear that it has no plans in the foreseeable future to start putting all of its games on a subscription service day and date, believing that that would have an adverse impact on sales (something that Microsoft itself has also admitted). Now, leaked internal documents emerging from the recent Insomniac Games data breach have revealed data that seems to lend weight to that notion.

A new month heralds even more titles joining the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. December’s lineup is playable from Tuesday, December 19, headlined by Grand Theft Auto V, letting even more players travel to Los Santos to experience the exhilarating single player story campaign, then craft their own career on the city streets and beyond in the vast multiplayer world of GTA Online. GTAV’s arrival into the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog nicely lines up with the game’s newly launched update, GTA Online: The Chop Shop, which introduces a new Salvage Yard business, Drift Races, and more.

Grand Theft Auto V leads the pack of new titles coming to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe/ Premium game catalog, this month. Starting December 19, all higher-tier PS Plus members can hop back into the lively city of Los Santos and experience a tale of perilous heists and betrayal as a street hustler, a retired bank robber, and an impulsive criminal's lives become intertwined in a twisted odyssey. While the game has been out for quite some time now, this addition perfectly lines up with the new GTA Online update ‘The Chop Shop,' which brings a salvage yard and drift racing into the mix. GTA V will be available to play on both PS4 and PS5.

A new month means a new PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup. December’s titles of Lego 2K Drive, PowerWash Simulator and Sable will be available to PlayStation Plus members on Tuesday, December 5 until Monday, January 1.  Let’s take a closer look at each game.

Sony has announced the next wave of titles coming to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers starting December 19th. PS4 and PS5 players can play Grand Theft Auto 5, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, Moto GP23, Metal: Hellsinger (with PS4 owners able to download the PS5 version), Salt and Sacrifice and Moonscars.

Sony has announced a new PS Plus promotion that'll run the length of December and into the new year called Season of Play. While it's live, you'll be able to earn new PS5 and PS4 avatars, discounts on merch from the PlayStation Gear shop, enter a competition to win a PS5 console, and claim 50 PS Stars points if you play one of the month's new PS Plus Essential games.

Rainbow Six Siege fans did a collective double take last week when Activision shared the next slate of operators coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. Meet Dokkaebi: a «skilled spy and robotics engineer» available in the Season 1 battle pass. Call of Duty's Dokkaebi immediately drew comparisons to popular Siege operator Dokkaebi: a skilled hacker who disrupts and steals enemy intel.
