One gamer has discovered a bag of officially licensed PlayStation-branded pasta from Italy, each piece of which is shaped like the four iconic sacred symbols. This pasta is quite the novelty, to say the least, and it's surely going to go down as one of the weirder bits of merchandising in PlayStation history.
Every now and then, the three console manufacturers like to surprise their fans by unveiling something completely out of the ordinary, like food-related merchandise. Microsoft, for instance, just released a toaster shaped like an Xbox Series S that pairs perfectly with the Series X mini fridge they launched back in 2021. Though Nintendo itself has yet to release any food-related merchandise so far, The Pokemon Company, on the other hand, has started selling Slowpoke-themed food products in Japan. Even Valve has joined in on this food-themed trend, too, by giving away a turkey fryer to one lucky individual who bought a Steam Deck, though that one may have been an accident. And now, it seems like PlayStation fans are getting their own food products pertaining to their favorite console brands as well.
A user on Reddit, who goes by the name Musicus, has shared a photo on the r/PlayStation subreddit of what appears to be official PlayStation-themed pasta. Though the poster doesn't share any details on the food itself, they do mention that they got ahold of this bag of pasta thanks to a friend who gave it to them after a trip from Italy. Unfortunately, the packaging of the bag itself doesn't provide any specifics on the type of pasta this is. Regardless though, given the iconic PlayStation logos all over this packaging, it's safe to say that this pasta is the product of a marketing campaign from the gaming giant.
Further research reveals that this strange, sacred symbol-shaped pasta is the result of a recent PlayStation collaboration between Sony and Italian pasta manufacturer Garofalo. The collaboration in question, aptly referred to as 'Play Your Pasta,' was officially announced back in June 2023, meaning that this PlayStation pasta has been on the market for several months at this point. However, it's no wonder that many fans weren't even aware that it existed, given that the Garofalo brand isn't exactly a household name in countries like the United States. Nonetheless, PlayStation fans interested in the product will still have a chance to buy it for themselves if they live near a store that carries Garofalo pasta.
PlayStation fans have had a lot to enjoy recently, with the releases of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Helldivers 2,Rise of the Ronin, and the upcoming Stellar Blade. The discovery of this PlayStation pasta, though, might just take the cake as one of the sillier bits of PlayStation news from

Stellar Blade was the best-selling physical game in the UK last week, with its launch sales on PS5 being enough to see it top sales charts in the region. Sony and Shift Up haven't shared any official sales data just yet, but this marks a good start for the title, which holds the potential to sell well long-term. TopSpin 2K25 was another new entry in the UK sales chart last week, debuting in third place.
This author thought Helldivers 2 was going to be a colossal flop, so it just goes to show how unpredictable this industry can be. According to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, it currently sits behind a trio of Spider-Man titles, a couple of God of War games, and Ghost of Tsushima as Sony’s seventh highest grossing game in the United States to date. It’s been out less than three months, and isn’t even being sold at full-price.
If you’re not familiar with the Playdate, it’s the dinky yellow handheld with a crank that’s actively coveting a hobbyist, indie game development crowd. It’s home to a number of unique experiences already, but for PlayStation fans, this may be the most intriguing outing yet: Psygnosis’ legendary PS1 racer WipEout, rendered in beautiful black-and-white polygons.
Helldivers 2 has continued a surprisingly frequent trend over the past couple of years of titles, such as Baldur's Gate 3 and Palworld, that have blown up in popularity more than anyone could have possibly predicted, even the developers themselves. We're yet to get official numbers for just how impressive Helldivers 2's launch has been, but it has been revealed that it's already managed to become one of PlayStation's highest grossing titles in the US.
While Dragon’s Dogma 2 topped US software charts for March 2024 per Circana’s Matt Piscatella, Helldivers 2 wasn’t far behind. It ranked in second place and is still the best-selling premium title of the year to date. Furthermore, it’s the seventh best-selling title (in terms of lifetime dollar sales) published by Sony, despite only being on sale for two months.

Stellar Blade has launched to huge acclaim this weekend, but not every fan is delighted with Shift Up’s PS5 debut. Eagle-eyed players spotted some changes to a couple of costumes in the final product, prompting accusations of censorship from publisher Sony. Of course, it wouldn’t be the first time the Japanese giant has requested changes in PlayStation games, as more titillating cutscenes in titles like Devil May Cry 5 were inexplicably edited on PS4 in the past. This decision was later reversed.
