Darren Jason Watkins Jr., better known by his online handle IShowSpeed, has gotten his PlayStation account banned. This turn of events elicited quite an emotional reaction from the streamer during one of his recent broadcasts, adding to the list of IShowSpeed's livestream antics.
IShowSpeed rose to prominence in 2021 with his energetic variety streams that often saw him have animated reactions to whatever was happening on the screen. He became the most watched YouTube streamer in 2022, at only 17 years of age. His online presence is still growing quite rapidly, as underlined by the fact that IShowSpeed's YouTube channel boasts over 22.5 million subscribers as of early 2024, a 12.5% increase compared to just five months ago.
During a mid-January livestream, IShowSpeed opened an email notifying him that his PlayStation account had been temporarily suspended. Inappropriate behavior in the PlayStation exclusive LittleBigPlanet was cited as the reason for the ban. While this was hardly the first time that IShowSpeed had one of his online accounts suspended, what made this situation unusual was that it wasn't the streamer's fault. Namely, the content creator had no idea what LittleBigPlanet even was, having said as much during the January 16 livestream, as seen in the clip of the now-deleted broadcast shared by Twitter user IShowSpeedHQ.
After Googling the name of the game, the 18-year-old concluded that his half-brother Dian was at fault for the ban. Following some animated raging on camera, IShowSpeed called his two-year-younger sibling in order to question him about the incident. Dian immediately admitted to being responsible for the suspension, revealing that he had uploaded a custom sticker that warranted the ban.
ShowSpeed was also puzzled about why his brother was even playing LittleBigPlanet with his PlayStation account in the first place, stating that he could have used his own profile. However, Dian claimed he actually had no other account to play on. The younger sibling asked IShowSpeed not to worry about the incident, noting that he had only received a three-day ban instead of a permanent suspension. This only went to further agitate the streamer, who kept screaming that he shouldn't have been messing with his account. PlayStation had already unbanned IShowSpeed by the time the streamer realized he was suspended.
