A new PlayStation 5 beta system software is rolling out today for select users, allowing them to test features that will be introduced in the next system software update.
The new beta system software introduces a variety of new accessibility features, such as the ability to use a second controller for assistance and the option of turning on haptic feedback while in the system UI. This will reflect the sound effects in the interface physically through haptics for certain events, such as moving focus on reaching the end of a scrollable list.
The new PlayStation 5 beta system software also brings support for Dolby Atmos-enabled audio devices, allowing users with such devices, such as TVs and soundbars, to enjoy 3D Audio powered by Tempest 3D Audio to increase immersion. The new beta also introduces some social feature enhancements, Game Help improvements, and the highly requested search feature for games in the user's library. Finally, the new beta system software introduces support for larger-capacity M.2 SSDs, upping the previous 4 TB limit to 8 TB, something that should please those with large libraries of games.
More information on the new PlayStation 5 beta system software update can be found on the Official PlayStation Blog. As of now, the beta is available only for invited users. A launch date for the new system software update introducing these features to the public has yet to be confirmed.

What can I tell you? Today is going to be a day of grifting great bargains and girding one's butt-cheeks (during the Matilda's semi-final attempt this evening). Pick of the litter as of now has got to be the ludicrously low price of LEGO Skywalker Saga on Switch. I'm also all about cheap thrills with Resi 2 Deluxe, Sifu Vengeance Edition, and a pretty magical price on Hogwarts Legacy.

We all love to see faster SSDs. Price aside, the problem with PCIe 5.0 SSDs is they get too hot. That means they need slabs of motherboard metal to cool them, or require creative cooling solutions that work around the relatively tiny M.2 2280 form factor.
