The title comes from developer Pendulo Studios, which has previously produced other games inspired by famous works like, and publisher Microids, which largely focuses on adapting IPs into games. Players will be able to fill the shoes of beloved reporter Tintin, and alongside his dog Snowy solve one of the writer's most iconic tales.
will take players across Egypt, Arabia, and India as they try to uncover a secret smuggling ring. The game places an emphasis on accuracy, sometimes matching up panel-for-panel with the original comic, while also aiming to serve as an introduction for new fans. A myriad of interactive environments will let players take the investigation into their own hands as they search areas for clues and meet a wide array of interesting NPCs, providing a new sense of depth not possible in a comic book.

sat down with José Céspedes Martínez, lead game designer at Pendulo Studios, and product manager Charles Leveugle, to discuss bringing the comic book to life, remaining faithful to the fandom, and what they're most excited to see players react to.
Screen Rant: First, I would love to hear a little bit about how this project first came about, like what made specifically the story that you guys wanted to pursue an adaptation of?
Charles Leveugle: Well, here at Microids we specialize in adapting licenses into great video games, and Tintin is a great license from the comics universe. The reason why we chose to work on the Cigars of the Pharaoh album specifically is that for all Tintin fans of all the Tintin universe, this album — which is the fourth album of the series — is the first one in which Tintin travels to different countries. And it's important to the characters for the following of his adventures, such as Thomson and Thompson or even Rastapopoulos, you should know the end of the story.
So it was an evident choice actually to start the new Tintin IP in the videogame industry with this Cigars of the Pharaoh album, because in Tintin travels three countries actually — Egypt, Arabia, India — and throughout you have a lot of different environments, different encounters, different NPCs with which you can interact, and this makes the game a really complete adventure.
José Martínez: I completely agree. In particular I would point out that in general, every comic he will do a lot of different kinds of stuff. But in particular Cigars of the Pharaoh, even compared to other comics, you can see that he literally is an expert of any type of situation and scenario. So that's another funny point for this comic.
