Payday 3 has released update 1.1.1, aimed at addressing numerous bugs, introducing a new Challenge Reward, improving the overall gameplay, and more. This update is part of «Operation Medic Bag,» a step forward that the Payday 3 developer is taking to improve the game following its rocky launch.
Payday 3 is a cooperative first-person shooter released in September 2023 by Starbreeze Studios and Deep Silver. Set after the events of Payday 2, the game reunites the original crew of characters from Payday: The Heist in a narrative where they return to a life of crime after being double-crossed and losing their money. Featuring familiar faces, Payday 3 unfolds primarily in New York during the 2020s, incorporating elements such as advanced surveillance and the emergence of cryptocurrency into its gameplay. Despite the anticipation for the game, Payday 3 currently has «Mostly Negative» reviews on Steam and has faced criticism for serious issues.
Update 1.1.1 patch notes highlight a plethora of improvements across various Payday 3 issues. One of the notable additions is the integration of Nvidia's advanced features, including Nvidia Image Scaling Upscaler (NIS), Nvidia DLAA (v3.5), and Nvidia DLSS Super Resolution (v3.5), allowing players to experience enhanced graphics performance and visual quality. Moreover, the update introduces DirectX 12 as the standard graphics API, offering a significant performance boost according to in-house testing results. Players can manually select DirectX 11 with the launch option "-dx11" if desired.
Alongside, a new feature, the Hardcore «Cook Off» Challenge Reward called «Kiss the Chef,» has been added, where securing 19 bags of perfectly cooked meth on Cook Off on Overkill difficulty rewards players with a unique weapon charm. Various UI improvements have been implemented, including the addition of sliders and the much-requested lobby unready function. Additionally, controller dead zone settings now allow for finer customization of controller gameplay, enhancing player control and responsiveness. To freshen up the gameplay experience, rotating security modifiers have been introduced for Very Hard and Overkill difficulty heists. Besides, the modifier distribution will be updated every two weeks.
Despite the extensive fixes and improvements, Payday 3 has some known issues that were also addressed, such as skill point assignment resets on loadouts and potential crashes related to GeForce Experience/Shadowplay's 'Instant Replay' feature. The patch notes also mention balance adjustments to weapons, skills, equipment, and enemies, alongside fixes to UI, audio, and visual elements that previously marred the gaming experience.
