During the 2024 ID@Xbox Showcase, Pocket Pair pulled back the curtain on an upcoming Palworld update introducing at least four new Pals and a new island for players to explore. The new Palworld update is slated to launch in the summer of 2024, and Pocket Pair shared a short teaser video of the new Pals that players will encounter in the update.
The news of Palworld's next major update came weeks after the release of Bellanoir, the first raid boss Pal, in the version 0.2.0.6 update. Unlike other boss-type Pals, Bellanoir does not spawn in random locations and instead must be called in via a Summoning Altar that can be placed in a base. Once the Summoning Altar is created, players can use a Bellanoir Slab to call forth the Dark-type raid boss for a battle. Though it cannot be caught in a Pal Sphere, that has not stopped Palworld players from developing strategies to defeat Bellanoir with little effort, using a base full of powerful Dragon Pals such as Jetragon.
However, Palworld players looking for a new environment to explore and new wild Pals to catch will soon be in luck. During the ID@Xbox Showcase, Pocket Pair released a one-minute video that covered what to expect in Palworld's summer update. The trailer started with the player character and a Cattiva walking through a grove of cherry blossom trees, which had not been seen in-game at the time of writing. The trailer then showed off four new Pals that will arrive with the summer update. While none of the new Pals had their names or Pal types revealed, the first new Pal was a toad-like creature wielding a stick and wearing a light-colored gi.
The trailer then showed a new ostrich-like Pal that some viewers likened to a Pokemon called Espartha from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The ostrich Pal let loose an attack before the camera panned to another new Pal that floated in midair. This Pal had a dog-shaped face, long black ears shaped like hair, and assumed a meditative pose. The final Pal shown off was a long-necked mushroom creature. The trailer ends with the Palworld player character and Cattiva standing in front of an Eastern-style shrine, which may indicate that the new island draws inspiration from Pocket Pair's home country of Japan.
Between the new summer update and the anticipated PVP Arena update slated to arrive sometime in 2024, Palworld players will soon have loads of content to play. It remains to be seen when exactly the Palworld summer 2024 update will be released.
