Our Xbox friends will get to play Baldur's Gate 3 after all

Starfield players are a creative bunch, and when they're not filling spaceships full of potatoes or building New Atlantis in Lego, they're using the robust character creator to recreate a bunch of famous faces.

Starfield has exceeded a million concurrent players across all platforms by the end of its first day of full release.

When Larian Studios’ role-playing smash hit Baldur’s Gate 3 launched, it escaped no one’s attention how up for it most party companions in the game were. For once, the term “romance options” really was the euphemism it often sounds like. These people were horny, and they seemed less interested in getting to know you than in… well, getting to know you.

With the recent compromise with Microsoft that will allow Larian Studios to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox Series X|S, the studio has now confirmed that the critically acclaimed RPG is expected to release on Xbox by the end of 2023.

Microsoft has appointed former PlayStation executive Mena Sato Kato as its director of partnerships for Japan.

Developer Larian Studios has revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 will be making its way on to Xbox Series X/S some time between September and November. The RPG is making its way on to PS5 on September 6, while the PC version was released earlier this month.

Bethesda games have long had silent protagonists, even counting Skyrim's Dragonborn who goes from silently muttering sentences to Fus Ro Dah-ing companions off cliffs. Fallout 4 changed that with two voice options which, along with a watered-down dialogue wheel that never laid out exactly what you were going to say, drew backlash. Starfield took note.

There’s no shortage of upcoming video games to get excited for when it comes to the Xbox platform. We know that there is a push to see this platform receive more first-party video game titles. While the studios are still pushing through some incredible game projects, most of us might be eyeing the launch of next month’s Starfield. Bethesda is gearing up for their next big RPG to finally be in the hands of players worldwide. But there’s even more to look forward to playing after this game launches into the marketplace.

For those Xbox players who have been waiting on a release for Baldur’s Gate 3 , Larian Studios and Microsoft have finally reached a solution that will allow a 2023 release. 

Baldur's Gate III will be coming to Xbox consoles this year after all. In a tweet, Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke confirmed that he and Xbox head Phil Spencer had found a solution to bring the critically acclaimed CRPG to Microsoft's current-gen consoles. There's one catch though: the game won't support split-screen co-op on the less-expensive Xbox Series S — a feature the developer has been struggling to enable for months now, thanks to the technical limitations of the console. In fact, to maintain parity of features between Baldur's Gate 3 on the Xbox Series S and X, Microsoft even sent engineers from their side to help out Larian.
