Up until a few years ago, if you wished to purchase a foldable smartphone in India, the only option available would have been Samsung. However, that is not the case anymore as brands such as Oppo, Motorola and Tecno have introduced several fold and flip smartphones, and that too at a price tag that has made this segment a much more competitive place. Aiming to establish its foothold in India's foldable smartphone market, OnePlus, which was once touted as the ‘flagship killer', has launched its first-ever flagship foldable smartphone in India.

In the earliest days of foldables, simply participating was enough to get people to take notice. With every new player on the scene, however, it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish oneself from the crowd. As we barrel toward the end of 2023, Samsung is far from the only game in town. We’ve got Google, Motorola, Huawei, Honor and, of course, Oppo, among others.

Smartphone technology moves at a blistering pace, at least, on the Android side of things. Folding smartphones has been out for several years, but Samsung has been the face of it in India even though brands like Motorola, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi have also been experimenting with this category. It's only over the past two years that we have started seeing some of the Chinese clamshell foldables getting launched in India. This is mainly because Samsung has been the only smartphone brand to bring every single foldable model it announced globally, to India.

OnePlus announced its first folding smartphone today, the OnePlus Open. This dual-screened device sports a purposeful design, excellent displays, and a new way to multitask that makes it a powerful productivity partner.

It is safe to say that OnePlus has been going through some identity crisis as of late. Don't get me wrong, the company is still making great phones, but now, these phones are just like any other flagship device available in the market. You get a high price, top-of-a-line processor, multiple cameras, a big screen, and a massive display. However, it seems that the OnePlus 12 could fix what has been wrong with the device.

Get ready for another foldable phone launch, this time from OnePlus. 

The OnePlus 12 is shaping up to be an exciting device as it will be going official later this year in China and early 2024 in the global market. We have seen the leaked specs in the past, and based on the renders we have seen, it appears that the new phone is going to look a lot like its predecessor, which is a good thing because we are now seeing this trend where the brand is slowly developing its own identity.

OnePlus does not just make smartphones anymore and over the years, it has experimented and expanded its range of products. It now has a fairly wide ecosystem of devices, which recently also saw the addition of a tablet. From an ecosystem point of view, it is only missing a computer. Adding to this long lineup of smartphones, TVs, monitors, smartwatches, audio gear, clothing accessories (which also includes a fanny pack), is a mechanical keyboard called the OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro. OnePlus tied up with the mechanical keyboard specialists at Keychron to design it.
