Slay the Spire 2 has officially been confirmed with an early access Steam period beginning in 2025 at an unspecified date. A console release for Slay the Spire's sequel has not yet been announced, although it seems quite likely.
Slay the Spire's full release came in 2019 when the game quickly turned into a viral hit. Now regarded as one of the best strategy card games in recent times, Slay the Spire's tactical yet intuitive gameplay led many gamers to become hooked on its roguelike, deck-building format. The indie game still boasts decent Steam player numbers more than five years after its release with a peak of 20,000 concurrent users in March.Slay the Spire's widespread acclaim made a sequel seem like an obvious move for developer Mega Crit, but this had remained unconfirmed until now.
During the Triple-I Initiative showcase, a brief, animated trailer for Slay the Spire 2 was shown, teasing the game's format of fighting upwards through the spire once again. Mega Crit confirmed that the sequel features new playable characters, enemies, cards, events, relics, and more. Slay the Spire 2's Steam page teases that the game includes new ways to play that haven't been announced yet, possibly suggesting that it features a non-roguelike format as well, but this is purely speculation. Mega Crit revealed one of Slay the Spire 2's new characters, the Necrobinder. This character starts with a very low 35 HP and presumably has something to do with bringing the dead back to life.
Slay the Spire 2's gameplay seems to be quite similar to the first game's ingenious design, as shown in the Steam page's screenshots. However, this time around, Slay the Spire's cards will be replaced with brand-new ones along with new random encounters like the Symbiote. As for Slay the Spire 2's starting characters, the trailer seems to suggest that The Ironclad, The Silent, and The Necrobinder will be available at launch.
Mega Crit confirmed that more info is coming later this year, but did not specify exactly when. While fans will have to wait for additional news, they can still enjoy the original Slay the Spire and its fan-made mods, some of which add entirely new cards, bosses, and events to the game.
Roguelike deck-building fans can also check outBalatro if they haven't already. The viral card game draws inspiration from Poker to create a unique approach that is quite addictive (and doesn't involve gambling).
Slay the Spire was developed by MegaCrit and is a roguelike deck-building game with similarities to the pioneer of deck-building games, Dominion.
Slay the Spire was nominated for PC Game of the Year at the 2019 Golden Joystick Awards, though it lost out to World of Warcraft Classic.

Modders have managed to get Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 5 running on the Nintendo Switch. Ever since its initial release in 2013, Grand Theft Auto 5 has been a massive success. Not only does GTA 5 continue to receive new content for its online component, the game has also been re-released on several different platforms across three console generations. One platform that the game was never ported to since its initial release, however, is the Nintendo Switch.
One enterprising Stardew Valley player may have found the most profitable method of gathering flower honey that the game allows. While Stardew Valley offers players a lot of different ways to build their fortunes, this particular layout for placing flowers and bee houses can produce a lot of flower honey, a valuable artisan good, on a relatively small patch of land.
Pizza Tower fans have been waiting for the well-loved PC indie platformer to make the jump to consoles, but this week's Nintendo Indie Showcase once again failed to deliver that announcement. Instead, we saw a very similar-looking game called Antonblast - and while some elements of the fandom were quick to call it a "Pizza Tower clone," both games owe their inspiration to a much older Nintendo classic.
Fallout 4 was the best selling game across Europe last week.
The Game Boy Advance was a landmark achievement for Nintendo when it first released in 2001. As the successor to the wildly popular Game Boy Color, it had big shoes to fill, but its release heralded a few major design changes that would inform the future of Nintendo's handheld launches. Its adoption of a landscape presentation that moved buttons and the D-Pad to the side of the screen became stock for the release of the DS, 3DS, and Switch, and its backward compatibility helped push the notion that it was an evolution of a larger family of handhelds that would be worthy investments for years to come.
Today's Nintendo Indie World Showcase had a few surprises, and if you happen to be familiar with the Atari 2600 library, none of them were more surprising than the announcement of Yars Rising.

Word on the street is that Nintendo won’t release the long-awaited successor to the Switch until next year. As such, the company needs to let fans know what they'll be able to play on the current console over the coming months. To help pad out the schedule, Nintendo has a bunch of indie game releases lined up. We will find out what some of those are during the next Indie World showcase, which is set for April 17 at 10 AM ET.
