NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce RTX 5090 & RTX 5080 "Blackwell" GPUs are rumored to launch in the fourth quarter of 2024.
This year kicked off with the launch of the GeForce RTX 40 "SUPER" series which introduced three brand new GPUs based on NVIDIA's Ada Lovelace architecture. These GPUs were designed to offer better performance and value than their non-SUPER variants & were met with a positive reception overall.
Now it looks like NVIDIA is already planning to launch its next-generation gaming GPUs based on the recently introduced Blackwell architecture. The NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs announced so far are made entirely for the AI & HPC segment but we know for a fact that there's already a Blackwell GPU IP that will be powering the next generation of RTX graphics. These graphics cards are expected to utilize the RTX 50 series branding.
It is reported that NVIDIA will once again focus on launching its high-end graphics cards such as the GeForce RTX 5090 followed by the GeForce RTX 5080 in Q4 2024. The graphics cards will be beneficial for NVIDIA's board partners in expanding their shipments and the launch of these GPUs will also help push the average selling price of GPUs (ASPs) higher as more gamers upgrade toward the high end of the spectrum. MSI is among one of the major brands that is expecting double-digit gains with the GeForce RTX 50 GPUs and the respective AI PC platforms that are going to be a huge deal in 2024 and beyond.
Based on previous rumors, NVIDIA is expected to have two flagship dies under the GB202 and the GB203 banner. The former is likely going to be utilized by the GeForce RTX 5090 while the latter is expected to be utilized by the RTX 5080.
