Nintendo to roll out new community tournament guidelines

Earlier this week, Nintendo updated its community tournament guidelines for smaller events run by fans. As pointed out by disabled members of the gaming community, these guidelines in their current state exclude most of them.

Nintendo recently got competitive fans of its various franchises riled up after releasing a list of strict guidelines for community tournaments.

Valve has launched its much-awaited SteamVR 2.0 update, following a one-month beta testing period in September. The update was originally supposed to drop in 2020.

Considering the online buzz, GTA 6 leaks are all gamers care about these days. They want an update on the trailer, the game's launch date, and more information about the storyline and the gameplay. Specifically, Nintendo released a new set of “community guidelines” for those who wished to run tournaments of a small nature, in this case under 300 people, without needing Nintendo’s permission. For some of the guidelines, it was a pretty standard affair. There were things that people could do and can’t do both on the “organizer level” and those playing it. However, when people dug deeper into the rules, they released that one of the things that would be restricted is the Nintendo Switch controllers that can be used in said tournaments.

Super Smash Bros. fans are pretty used to getting dirty looks from Nintendo, especially the Super Smash Bros. Melee scene. Nintendo has been consistently made setting up Melee tournaments more and more difficult recently, emposing strict guidelines and rules that many local organizers have had to skirt around for the past few years. However, this new set of guidelines recently released by Nintendo threatens to wipe out local Melee community tournaments for good.

It’s no secret that despite Nintendo being one of the greatest and longest-lasting video game publishers/developers in the world, they aren’t always “with it” regarding their fans. On one hand, they have been trying to publish great content for gamers over the years. Even when their consoles don’t hit well, their software titles often rock, as 2023 easily proves. However, they have been rather restrictive when it comes to what fans DO with their games and how they have fun with others. Today, Nintendo published new “community guidelines” for those wishing to set up tournaments, which are pretty strict.
