Nintendo has added another new batch of games to the Nintendo Switch Online library, and though many may be unfamiliar with the new additions, it’s fair to say they had their fair share of fans back in the day (which was, admittedly, quite long ago).
All three additions in this batch are SNES titles. There’s Wrecking Crew ’98, an action puzzle Mario spinoff that never released outside of Japan. This will be the first time Western audiences will officially get access to the game, with its 2016 Wii U Virtual Console release also having been exclusive to Japan.
Also available now is SUPER R-TYPE, an acclaimed horizontally scrolling shooter that itself was an expanded version of 1989’s arcade title R-Type II.
Finally, there’s also the Hebereke series’ fighting spinoff, Amazing Hebereke, which also releases for Wester audiences for the first time since it first came out in 1994. Amazing Hebereke has been available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers since 2020.

Hearken to this, my fellow retro gaming sickos: Nintendo is finally catering to our very unusual tastes with the latest updates to the Nintendo Switch Online retro game library. This time, we've gotten a pair of N64 games that I'd wager you've either never heard of or entirely forgotten up until this moment.
MAGES. has announced The Quintessential Quintuplets: Gotopazu Story 2nd for PlayStation 4 and Switch. It will launch in 2024 in Japan.

Nintendo has still yet to unveil the successor to the Switch, but the Japanese company’s next-gen console continues to be the subject of rumours and leaks. A new report published by Spanish outlet Vandal has now also allegedly revealed new details on the upcoming console.
There's still a chance for the Nintendo Switch 2 to launch this year. Exactly two months ago, the Japanese publication Nikkei wrote that March 2025 was the most likely release window for the new console as it allowed Nintendo to produce enough consoles to sell to consumers.
Publisher Bandai Namco and developers ZOC and Monkeycraft have announced action RPG That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime ISEKAI Chronicles for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC (Steam). It will launch on August 8 worldwide.

The latest 18.0.1 system update for the NintendoSwitch has addressed a known network issue. A previous patch released in late March made tweaks to the handheld's Sleep Mode, and added Korean language support for the introductory video of the console's parental controls.
Single-player life simulation game Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game will launch digitally for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC via Steam this fall, publisher Private Division and developer Weta Workshop announced. It will support English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Turkish, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language options.
