Tears of the Kingdom celebrates its first anniversary this weekend. A game so many of us spent such a massive amount of time with, it's hard to believe it has only been in our lives for a year. Its creators have already confirmed that it won't be getting any expansions, so don't go expecting a bombshell u-turn this weekend. There has been a Tears of the Kingdom birthday announcement, though. Nintendo has revealed it will be releasing a physical version of the sequel's soundtrack, a 464-page Master Works, and best of all, a replica of its Master Sword.
The release dates of the three announced items will be staggered throughout 2024, ensuring you don't have to spend a tonne of money all at once, and also leaving you with something Zelda-themed to look forward to, at least until the Master Sword, the last of the three reveals, is released in September. There will be more Zelda games of course, and there's a live-action movie in the works, but it will be a while before we see anything concrete on either of those fronts.
The first of the three items being released will be the soundtrack, launching exclusively in Japan on July 31, 2024. Unfortunately, all three items have only been confirmed to be released in Japan at the time of typing this. Hopefully they will follow in the footsteps of Mario Wonder's elephant plush and be released worldwide shortly after. There's so much music in Tears of the Kingdom that the OST is made up of nine discs, 344 tracks from the game spread across them. The OST costs 19,800 yen ($128).
One month after the OST is released, the Master Works will be available, launching on August 30. Featuring concept art and breakdowns from the development team that worked on the game, Nintendo has already provided a sneak peek at what you'll find on some of its 464 pages. Early sketches of Link, and even a what appears to be a double-page spread of different looks that were considered for Zelda's design. The book has been priced at 6,930 yen, which is roughly $45.
Another month after that, given a vague release window of September, is the Master Sword replica. Tears of the Kingdom's Master Sword moment was incredible, and soon you will be able to own a constant reminder of it you can display wherever you like. The sword is a little more than 41 inches long, comes with a sheath, and also includes a pedestal for display purposes. It's unsurprisingly the most expensive of the three items at 22,000 yen, so about $142. These three items will likely be how Nintendo bids farewell to Tears of the Kingdom, and hopefully all of them will be available around the world and not just in Japan.
