Even though Nintendo still hasn't confirmed it will be releasing the Switch's successor in 2025, one look at its 2024 slate serves as relatively concrete evidence that's the case. There are still games coming, but there's an argument to be made that the last tentpole release on the Switch was Super Mario Bros. Wonder. A game famed for turning Mario and his supporting cast into elephants, and fans in Japan were lucky enough to then see Elephant Mario turned into a plush soon after.

Former Nintendo employees have revealed that, despite its public announcement, Xenoblade Chronicles was originally planned to go without a North American release.
