A new store listing and a Tweet from an Xbox employee have fans hopeful that a Hollow Knight: Silksong update could be imminent. A new store listing and a tweet from an Xbox employee might not seem like a lot to go on, but an update concerning Hollow Knight: Silksong is long overdue. As it was heavily implied that Silksong was slated to release in the first half of 2023, fans are looking for an update sometime soon. However, developer Team Cherry has remained mostly silent since the announcement of Silksong's delay.
Hollow Knight: Silksong's development kicked off more than five years ago with the game's announcement. While initially planned as a DLC expansion for Hollow Knight, Team Cherry decided to create a full-blown sequel. As Hollow Knight is widely regarded as one of the best Metroidvanias of all time, Silksong has remained one of the most anticipated games since its initial announcement.
Xbox Portfolio Sr. Content Planning Manager Nick Zuclich shared a link to the new Hollow Knight: Silksong Xbox Store page. This post was shared by the popular deals page Wario64, claiming that the store page does appear to have been launched today. They add that the listings for Silksong on the eShop, PSN, Steam, and GOG stores already exist.
While these posts were both shared on April 1, it doesn't appear to be a prank. That said, it is currently unclear what this new Xbox Store page means for Hollow Knight: Silksong. What is interesting is that Zuclich shared the page. Sure, this could very well just be a playful social media post designed to get people talking, but seeing as Hollow Knight: Silksong is a day one Xbox Game Pass title, it is certainly possible the Xbox employee could be hinting at something.
Of course, this is all speculation at this point. Fans are still unsure what to expect from Hollow Knight: Silksong in 2024. When it was announced that Silksong would initially be delayed, Team Cherry gave no update for a release window. So, it's possible the year could come and go without any updates from the development team at all.
With every Nintendo Indie Direct and Xbox event, rumors surrounding an announcement or even a Hollow Knight: Silksong shadow drop make the rounds. However, these have yet to come to fruition. That said, Team Cherry will ultimately break the silence at some point. When that will be is still anyone's guess, but perhaps this latest update could mean news is coming after all.
