A Naughty Dog employee has listed "The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered" on their LinkedIn profile, giving more evidence that a re-release for the PS5 is on its way.
One of the most talked-about PlayStation rumours over the past few years (especially since the release of The Last of Us Part 1) is that Naughty Dog is working on a remaster of The Last of Us Part 2. The rumoured re-release has been reported several times by insiders over the past few years, and a new piece of evidence has just popped up that all but confirms the game's existence.

As pointed out by ResetEra user Red Kong XIX and originally spotted by Angie, the employee in question is Mark Pajarillo, a lead outsource artist at Naughty Dog. On his LinkedIn profile, Pajarillo notes that he has been responsible for "overseeing the production of all outsourced environment art assets, weapons, and interactive props" for both The Last of Us Part 1 and The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered.
Not only does this seemingly confirm that the long-rumoured (well, if you can call three years "long") remaster is in development at Naughty Dog, but it also suggests that it's going to be called The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered instead of being called "Director's Cut" like some had theorised. It was hardly going to be called The Last of Us Part 2: Part 2, was it?
Calling it a "remaster" instead of "director's cut" does seem to imply that any changes to the game are likely going to be minimal and that it's probably just a graphical update of some kind. That's likely to be a controversial decision as, not only is The Last of Us Part 2 already one of the best-looking games out there, but it also received an update when the PS5 launched that let it run at 60fps with improved visuals. It's not clear what exactly about the game needs to be "remastered", but I'm sure we're all going to have a lot of fun hearing about it over the next few months.
Although it's nice to get even more evidence that the remaster is on the way and end the rumours, this LinkedIn post is far from the first time that someone has leaked its existence. The biggest leak actually came from The Last of Us' composer, Gustavo Santaolalla, who mentioned during a podcast that there's a new version of the game in the works that lets players interact with his character in Jackson and specifically request songs to be played.

The Last of Us Part II might be getting a remaster, as accidentally stated by a developer at Naughty Dog. First spotted by Resetera users, Lead Outsource Artist Mark Pajarillo referenced the version in a now-updated LinkedIn experience post. “Responsible for overseeing the production of all outsourced environment art assets, weapons and interactive props for two iconic titles The Last of Us: Part One and The Last of Us 2: Remastered,” the original post read, proving its existence. Hints of an enhanced PS5 version first dropped in July, when composer Gustavo Santaolalla alluded to some new features being added to the remaster.

Naughty Dog has had some rough news this past few days. We had the alert of layoffs along with the recent industry insider claiming that the multiplayer-focused game set within The Last of Us universe has been killed off. However, a new discovery on LinkedIn reveals that Naughty Dog is working on a remastered edition of The Last of Us Part II. This might be an indicator that we’re going to see a PC release soon. However, an official announcement to the public has yet to come out.
The Last of Us Part II is still one of the most visually-impressive games ever released, and yet, oddly, despite releasing only months before the launch of the PS5, the game has never been properly updated for Sony’s latest console. Or ported to PC, for that matter. No, The Last of Us Part II remains stranded on creaky old PS4 hardware to this day.
