Nathan Fielder’s new show is almost certainly lying to us

Yes, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes halted production on a lot of TV and movies this year. But the last few months of 2023 will still be packed with major releases, many of which got initial screenings at this year’s New York Film Festival. Polygon crammed in as many of these new releases as we could during the festival, and we’re here with a preview of upcoming movies worth noting — the standouts, good and bad, from the next few months of major movie releases.

With each console generation that comes out, the big question that players ask is, “How much are we actually getting improvements from one generation to the next?” That’s a fair question to ask, as each new console is hyped up to infinity to try and get people to buy it. To be fair, with Sony consoles, the graphics and processing power improvements have always been in large leaps, not small steps. That’s how they’ve made certain astounding titles that look and play great. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the one that might just show you how incredible the PS5 is as a hardware device.

Starting on October 17, viewers will be able to stream Silver Linings Playbook. This romantic comedy-drama film based on Matthew Quick’s 2008 novel of the same name, revolves around Pat Solitano Jr. (Bradley Cooper), a man with bipolar disorder, who enters a dance competition with a young widow, Tiffany Maxwell (Jennifer Lawrence), in exchange for her help in winning back his estranged wife.

At this year’s New York Comic Con, the creators of the upcoming Percy Jackson show on Disney Plus once again had a comforting reminder for fans of the book series: unlike the infamous 2011 movie, author Rick Riordan and his wife Becky were heavily involved in the production from the very beginning.

Godzilla is back, only this time on the small screen. At a New York Comic Con 2023 panel for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, the new MonsterVerse show on Apple TV Plus which premieres in November, hopeful kaiju buffs were shown a new trailer and a look at the first episode for fans. October is nearly upon us, meaning Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is less than three weeks away from release. As Insomniac Games drops several new details, from the many accessibility features (including the new Challenge Level Modifiers) to a partial Trophy list, it also has some new suit reveals scheduled for October 12th.
