A winter update will land in Monster Hunter Now next week, on Thursday 7th December.
Monster Hunter Snow, as I'm now calling it, will see its in-game world blanketed in a wintry landscape as it launches a new season — Filminations in the Frost — and unleashes a menagerie of new monsters.
Zinogre, Banbaro, Barioth and Radobaan will all be introduced, alongside the smaller Cortos and Wulg. The Monster Hunter Now team has also taken player feedback on board to bring in a couple of much-requested weapons, too: the lance and dual blades.
Other tweaks include an increase to the number of items you can hold, and a rebalancing of weapons.
Monster Hunter Now is a collaboration between series maker Capcom and Pokémon Go developer Niantic. Fully launched for iPhone and Android devices in September, it feels like it's been Niantic's biggest launch since Pokémon Go.
The app, which lets you explore and battle impressive-looking versions of Monster Hunter wildlife, hit 5m downloads in its first week, and then 10m after its first month.

Overwatch 2’s annual holiday event Winter Wonderland will return to the game on Dec. 19. On Friday, Blizzard Entertainment detailed what players can expect during Winter Wonderland 2023, including returning game modes and new Legendary skins for heroes like Sojourn, Mercy, Tracer, Baptiste, Illari, and Cassidy. Also confirmed: a new Winter Wonderland event pass, which has a free track and a paid track that’s separate from the season 8 battle pass.
Happy Skull and Bones beta day for all that sail with her! I’m definitely going to be taking to the seas this weekend, and seeing if all those years of development have panned out. Hell, all I want is multiplayer Black Flag, and the trailers sure look like that’s what Ubisoft has made, so fingers crossed I’ll be pleasantly surprised. Other than that, I’ve been playing lots of another Ubisoft joint, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and I’ll be popping a score on that one after the weekend. It’s safe to say I’m thoroughly enjoying it though!
Off the back of Monster Hunter Wilds' reveal last week, Capcom is kicking off a campaign to revive Monster Hunter World's online scene.

Well, the good news is a new Monster Hunter's on the way — hooray! The bad news is we'll have to wait until 2025 play it — boo. Still, we do at least get an atmospheric teaser trailer to scrutinise until Capcom is ready to reveal more.

Capcom have unveiled the next entry in their dinosaur hat/pants/jumper-making sim this evening, and it's called Monster Hunter Wilds. A kick in the dino groin to this year's monster hunting pretender Wild Hearts, perhaps? Who can say. Formally unveiled at tonight's Game Awards, this new Monster Hunter is coming in 2025, and looks to be the jazzed-up successor to Monster Hunter: World. That's not a diss on Rise (which was excellent). Just that it's being developed for PC and consoles first, rather than Switch. And it looks rad as heck. Come and watch the reveal trailer below.
Monster Hunter Wilds «the next generation in the genre defining series» is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2025.
