Black Friday is here, and surprisingly, the recently-released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is already on sale via a number of platforms and retailers. This usually doesn’t happen – I’ve been writing up Black Friday deals posts for years, and you almost never see discounts for that year’s Call of Duty.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 may not be the longest game out there, but there’s one good reason that some gamers may jump back in to play it again and again.

Today, Sledgehammer Games has released a new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. The game has been patched to version 1.33, fixing various bugs and bringing several balance changes that are fully listed here.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is finally out for everyone and while many are excited about its take on first-person shooter multiplayer gameplay, especially in that it includes every map from 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the campaign so far has not been well-received by critics and fans. A new Bloomberg report sheds some light on the harsh conditions and quick turnaround developer Sledgehammer Games worked with to get the latest Call of Duty out the door, which might explain the campaign's mishaps. 

The latest entry in Activision Blizzard's popular Call of Duty video-game series was made in half the time of previous iterations, a fact that may be contributing to a spate of bad reviews, according to people familiar with the development process. Critics have panned the game, the first big release since Microsoft Corp. closed its $69 billion acquisition of Activision last month, saying the storyline feels rushed. Most Call of Duty games are developed in around three years, but the bulk of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, which comes out Friday, was made in less than a year and a half, said the people, who asked to not be identified because they weren't authorized to speak publicly. The abridged production schedule proved stressful for the development team, they said.
