Activision has launched Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 1.
To coincide with the new season going live, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software have released the patch notes for the latest game updates, which can be viewed in full here.
The seasonal update introduces a host of new content across the game’s three online pillars – multiplayer, Warzone and Zombies.
This includes three brand-new 6v6 multiplayer maps, the return of Gunfight, All or Nothing, Infected and Headquarters multiplayer modes, and a new Zombies story act and Dark Aether Rifts.
Headlining the Warzone update is new map Urzikstan. Consisting of 11 major points of interest, Urzikstan is 20% smaller than Al Mazrah, the Warzone map that launched last year with Modern Warfare 2.
While the free-to-play battle royale game has supported 150 player modes since its release in March 2020, Raven confirmed this week that Urzikstan reduces the player count by a third.
“Our top priority is creating an optimal and fun experience for all of our players based on critical metrics,” it said.
“These metrics include time-to-action, the map size of Urzikstan, new circle timings and sizes, total match time (20 minutes), red dots, contracts, and various new & existing second chance mechanics.

“We believe we’ve found the right balance to offer multiple phases starting with fair infil & looting, followed by healthy mid-game engagements, and an end game climax where the best player(s) leave with the win.”
Alongside numerous bug fixes and weapon balancing, Season 1 also introduces new weapons and Killstreaks, a Battle Pass with 100 tiers of content, festive and themed maps and events, and competitive multiplayer mode Ranked Play.

Given how packed 2023 was, it’s only natural that some games were going to fall below the radar for many, and as it turns out, Focus Entertainment and Deck13’s action RPG Atlas Fallen turned out to be one of them. It launched for PC and current-gen consoles in August to lukewarm reception, and it seems that’s been reflected in its sales as well.
Deck 13's Atlas Fallen didn't exactly light the world on fire when it launched in August. Granted, it was kind of smashed between giants (Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield, for example), but the reception from users and critics was still underwhelming.
During The Game Awards 2023, a joking remark made by God of War voice actor Christopher Judge about the length of his acceptance speech for winning Best Performance for his work as Kratos last year has drawn the ire of Call of Duty developers. Joking about the length of his speech last year, Judge stated that his speech was longer than the campaign for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
One God of War actor had some choice words for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s campaign while presenting The Game Awards 2023.
We've been honing our skills on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 remake for weeks now, and it's finally time to put those skills to the test… Season 1 of the online mode is finally here!

Pokemon Go hasn’t been the same since 2021, with limitations on remote raid passes, lackluster events, and repetitive Raid spotlights. While fans have been vocal about the decline of the app game, Pro players are now demanding immediate change, including community rockstar FleeceKing.
has had a big year thanks to the expansion, but new content connected to the title isn't sticking purely to the video game realm. After a 2020 launch that fell somewhat short of the lofty expectations that years of anticipation had built up, has turned things around with a number of key updates that improved and even overhauled aspects of the game. The property has also found success in other regards, perhaps most notably in the Netflix animated series that explored the world of Night City from a fresh new angle.
Over the years, Call of Duty campaigns have delivered the closest distillation of Michael Bay-style cinematic set piece action in video games. The first-person military shooter franchise, perhaps the most popular series of games in the world, has increasingly tilted in favour of its money-spinning multiplayer modes, with gradual introduction of battle passes, microtransactions, and downloadable content, but some of its single player campaigns remain a benchmark for bombastic sequences in the medium. Memorable missions from Call of Duty titles are part of gaming folklore — the raw shock of a nuclear detonation, the tense deliberations of a ghillied-up sniper, and the disturbing implications of a false flag terror attack; CoD campaigns have sustained their commitment to over-the-top, knockout moments with imaginative mission design, the “Oorah” machismo of American military might, and immersive cinematics that punctuate the action.
