A video detailing MatPat's cameo in the Five Nights at Freddy's movie has revealed that Markiplier was supposed to play a security guard in the film, which ended up not happening due to scheduling conflicts.
The Five Nights at Freddy's movie is finally out in cinemas and streaming on Peacock and, despite being panned by critics, it seems like it's a big hit with the fans. One of the main reasons for this is no doubt because of all of the easter eggs, references, and cameos, including an appearance from MatPat that references his many, many Game Theory episodes on the series.
Although a lot of Five Nights at Freddy's references and easter eggs reference people who made the series popular through let's plays, there's also one that nods to the popular "Dream Theory" that suggests the events of the series are, you guessed it, just a dream.
MatPat isn't the only YouTuber who appears in the film, either, as CoryxKenshin also plays the role of a taxi driver who has an unfortunate encounter with a Balloon Boy figure. That's already a lot of cameos, but there was one more big fan of the series that was supposed to show up in the movie - Markiplier. Aside from MatPat, Markiplier is viewed as one of the main reasons why Five Nights at Freddy's got so popular, as his scream-laden playthroughs of the games drew a lot of people to the series when it first came out.
Just a few weeks ago, Markiplier confirmed that he was going to make a cameo in the movie, but wasn't able to make an appearance due to scheduling conflicts with his Iron Lung movie adaptation. Despite revealing that he was planned to play a role in the film, Markiplier didn't go as far as saying what he was supposed to be doing in Five Nights at Freddy's, something that has now been uncovered thanks to a video from MatPat detailing his experience on set.
Just yesterday, MatPat uploaded a video confirming he was in the film and detailing what his experience on set was like. At one point in the video, MatPat shows a video he took while in the casting room for the film, codenamed Bad Cupcake at the time of production, which showed the roles that everyone was going to be playing. MatPat notes that this is how he found out that CoryxKenshin was in the film, before pointing out that it's also where he found out that Markiplier was going to be there.
According to the poster on the wall that can be seen in the video, Markiplier was supposed to be playing a security guard at the beginning of the movie. Considering the fate of that security guard, it might be for the best that Markiplier didn't end up making an appearance, but at least we now know what the filmmakers had in mind for his cameo.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is headed to Netflix just in time for the holiday season.
Earlier this year, an officially endorsed Five Nights at Freddy's fan game called FNAF Plus was cancelled following controversy with its creator Phil Morg (who goes by Phisnom on Twitter and YouTube). However, the game lives on with an easter egg in the movie, as the office rules poster is lifted 1:1 from the never-released game.
The movie had a $20 million budget, so things are looking good.
If you've played the game, you know the one.
The Apple Watch might be the most popular smartwatch in the world, but the company’s original plans were much different than what was envisioned for it. Some might conclude that technological limitations prevented certain health features from being incorporated, while others might argue that Apple’s management had other ideas on where to take this new product range. However, one report states that the technology giant’s grand plans, for this device and the successive models after it, were dramatically different than what we are seeing today.
Five Nights at Freddy's is chock full of Easter Eggs and references, from a Golden Freddy that went over most people's heads (myself included) to Dream Theory to... MatPat. Strange times. But there's another little nod some of you may have missed that could be setting up Shadow Freddy for the sequel.
Emma Tammi says fans probably shouldn’t hold their breath for an R-rated cut.
There are so many Five Nights at Freddy’s Easter eggs and cameos that we can barely keep track, but a new theory suggests we may have missed the biggest one.
End credit scenes seem to be a big trend in movies today, especially horror, so it is no surprise that Five Nights at Freddy’s has some treats hidden in its final moments. Aside from the Five Nights at Freddy's post-credits scene starring Balloon Boy, the latter comes in the shape of a muffled Morse code-like message, letting the audience know that the story is not over, and even suggesting a possible sequel.
Before Five Nights at Freddy's had even been released, it made back more than its $25 million budget thanks to the sale of its streaming and theatrical distribution rights. But now that it's in cinemas, it has made a staggering $130 million worldwide in just its first weekend, cementing it as the second-biggest opening for a video game movie, and the biggest opening for a live-action video game movie.
After having helped popularize its source material, Markiplier's cut cameo details have been revealed by fellow YouTube gamer and movie star MatPat. An adaptation of Scott Cawthon's horror video game franchise about possessed murderous animatronics has been in the works for nearly a decade, having finally made its way to the screen with the creator onboard as a co-writer and producer and Blumhouse financing the project. Though garnering negative reviews from critics, is already a box office hit in its opening weekend with an impressive 89% approval rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
