Manor Lords entered early access and quickly achieved a major sales milestone in a single day, selling over 1 million copies. After topping Steam's wishlist, Manor Lords proved it wasn't just a flash in the pan and has been attracting more and more players.
Developed by Slavic Magic and distributed by Hooded Horse, Manor Lords is a strategy game with a charming visual style and management elements, as well as large-scale tactical battles and highly intricate economic simulations. Players have to construct numerous buildings, optimize agricultural production, and even improve trade routes. The large-scale battles are also fully manageable, allowing the player to govern their lands like a true medieval lord.
At the time of this writing, Manor Lords had sold over 1 million units and had reached an all-time peak of 173,178 players, even more than the 170,082 disclosed by the publisher Hooded Horse. Manor Lords toppedHades 2and Hollow Knight Silksong on Steam's most wishlisted and achieved this major sales milestone less than a week after its early access release. This feat is all the more impressive, considering that Slavic Magic is comprised of a solo developer.
Initially, there were doubts whether Manor Lords would succeed, even considering its position on Steam's wishlist. The game had set a release date for its early access of April 26, pitting Manor Lords against Stellar Bladeand Sand Land, two other games that have attracted attention since their announcements. But considering the game's success, it seems Slavic Magic had nothing to worry about.
Manor Lords is yet another surprise hit for 2024. The game joined Palword and Helldivers 2, two other games released this year that gained a loyal following and quickly broke records for concurrent players on Steam. The squad-based shooter Helldivers 2 even outperformed titles like Fortniteand Call of Duty on PSN.
Manor Lords can be played on PC via Steam or through Game Pass. Manor Lords arrived on the PC Game Pass library the same day as its early access release on Steam. However, as its executable file is different on the two platforms, the game may receive updates first on Steam and then on Game Pass, similar to what happened with Palworld. Slavic Magic says it plans to keep Manor Lords in early access for a year before its full release.
