Little Nightmares 3 will only feature online co-op

Continuing its trend of bringing games from The Dark Pictures Anthology to the Nintendo Switch, developer Supermassive Games and publisher Bandai Namco have announced that The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope will be coming to Nintendo’s platform on October 5. The game is now also available to pre-order on the eShop.

Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Supermassive Games will release The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope for Switch via Nintendo eShop on October 5 for $19.99, the companies announced.

Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8 is one of the major releases to look forward to in 2024, with a closed beta set for October. Before that, the development team revealed several new features (via PlayStation Blog Japan), including the return of Tekken Ball.

The mobile version of Playdigious‘ Little Nightmares is now open for pre-registration, ahead of its December 12, 2023 release date. The game is slated for release on both Android and iOS devices and has already been released on multiple platforms.

The Little Nightmares franchise has always felt like it would be a perfect fit for co-op, given the fact that both games so far have put the spotlight on two core characters each, and though the series has remained exclusively single player so far, the recently-announced Little Nightmares 3 will be changing that- with a significant caveat though.

Little Nightmares made a triumphant return at Gamescom this year, with a third game announced two years after the release of the last game in 2021. Unlike the first two games, Little Nightmares 3 is being developed by Supermassive Games. And with this new team comes an all-new feature: co-op with another human player - as long as you don't mind playing online.

Horror master Supermassive Games has revealed that the reason Little Nightmares 3 only features online co-op is to ensure playing with a friend doesn't detract from the horror game's signature «atmosphere and immersion».

Little Nightmares 3 was initially announced in October 2021, but things have been fairly quiet since it was first spoken about. After two years of waiting, the game received its first reveal trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live in August, and we’ve got a fair amount of information to start building an idea of what this indie game will look and play like when it arrives next year. 

Little Nightmares 3 doesn't have a firm release date, but preorders are now open for the cooperative adventure.

The Little Nightmares series will continue with a third entry on PS5, PS4 next year, developed by Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures studio Supermassive Games. The original team Tarsier Studios was acquired by the Embracer Group in 2021 but publisher Bandai Namco owns the IP. Check out the announcement trailer above.

FromSoftware's upward trajectory with first the Souls series and now Elden Ring has publisher Bandai Namco feeling bullish about its return to Armored Core, a mech series that began in 1997 but had been dormant since 2013's Armored Core: Verdict Day. It may be on to something, because our own Wes Fenlon described Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon as «Top Gun: Maverick for anime nerds like me who grew up enraptured by Mobile Suit Gundam instead of F-14s» on the way to awarding a shining 87 score. I mean, that sounds pretty great.

Developer Owlcat Games has released a new trailer for its upcoming RPG Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. The trailer focuses on nine of the potential companions that players will be able to meet throughout their adventures in the game. Check it out below.
