October 20 was supposed to be the day Dune 2 hit cinemas. Strikes in Hollywood have prevented that from happening and we won't be getting the blockbuster sequel until 2024. While a lot of what was planned for its release can be moved, some things that have already been set in motion simply cannot be changed. Toys linked to the movie's release, for example. Pre-orders for Lego's new Ornithopter Set are now open, presumably because people were initially going to have been seeing the movie right about now.
Lego revealed its Ornithopter set on social media today, providing a link to its page at the Lego store so you can place your pre-order. The good news for those who want to build the set around the same time they see the sequel is even though pre-orders are now open, the set won't actually be with you until February 1, 2024. That gives you just six weeks to hold off on building it while the set is in your home tempting you as Dune 2 is currently slated to be here on March 15, 2024.

That's providing it doesn't get delayed again of course which, while likely, we shouldn't think about right now. Let's just focus on what is an incredibly cool new set based on a vehicle from the movie courtesy of Lego. Made up of 1,369 pieces, the Dune Ornithopter set is one of the many Lego sets geared towards adults. There's no reason you can't get the kids involved, of course, but they might need you to take the lead on this one.
Dune's Ornithopter has been turned into a Lego set. One of many sets geared towards adult Lego fans, the set is made up of more than 1,300 pieces and includes eight Minifigures modeled after characters from the movie.
While most of the enjoyment you get from a Lego set is through building it, the Minifigures that come with the Ornithopter will also be a big selling point. There are eight in total including Paul Atreides, Chani, and a massive Baron Harkonnen. The store page doesn't specify exactly how tall the Baron is, but judging by the images, he looks to be roughly three times the size of a regular Minifigure.
Lego aficionados really have some exciting stuff to look forward to in the near future. Elaborate sets on the horizon that will keep you busy for a very long time. The next set coming to the Super Mario collection is a Piranha Plant, and images of an intricate Avengers Tower set leaked recently. Transforming more than 30 characters into miniature Lego versions of themselves, the set is reportedly going to cost $525.
