Apple will announce the iPhone 16 lineup later this year in September, and third-party case manufacturers have already started developing designs for the forthcoming devices. Usually, accessory makers start making products ahead of the device's release to save time and offer their product ahead of launch to beat the competition. We now have our first look at the iPhone 16 cases, which share details on the design of the device.
Apple has been testing a wider range of designs for the iPhone 16 models over the past few months, and it appears that the company is bringing back the iPhone X-like look. While there are some key differences, the overall design language is pretty similar to the iPhone X, and it raises the question of whether the company has run out of ideas for its upcoming devices. Nonetheless, the new design will give the iPhone 16 a new look and feel compared to the current iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
We have previously covered that Apple is opting for a vertical layout for the cameras on the iPhone 16, and the design shift could bolster features like Spatial Video support for the new devices. It can be seen in the images (via Sonny Dickson) that the case for the iPhone 16 houses cutouts that reflect a vertical layout of the cameras. In comparison to the iPhone X, the vertical camera layout is quite large, as sensor sizes have increased over the past few years.
The iPhone 16 will feature the Wide and Ultra Wide sensors inside the pill-shaped plateau. The microphone would rest alongside the cameras, but the flash is seen to be located outside of the camera bump. Currently, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus come with a diagonal camera layout, a design that Apple introduced with the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini.
Apart from the vertical camera layout, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will also house a handful of additional changes that will enhance the functionality of the devices while being more user-friendly. For instance, we have previously heard that the company is planning to introduce the Action Button on all four models of the iPhone 16, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro models. Other than this, past reports have also suggested that Apple is planning to introduce a new Capture Button.
The Capture Button would solely respond to the camera features on the iPhone 16 lineup, potentially the video-taking capabilities. Due to the capacitive nature of the button, the Capture Button could respond to partial and full presses to register different commands. Possibly, pressing the

Bethesda's very own Mr Handy (director and executive producer) Todd Howard has addressed the controversy surrounding the Fallout TV show's treatment of Fallout backstory, reaffirming the canonicity of Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas and promising that Bethesda and Amazon are being "careful" to maintain consistency between the games and the TV series. Are you new to this latest lore scandal? Watch out for Fallout Season 1 spoilers ahead, then.
Crawl out through the fallout, baby! I've watched two episodes of Amazon's recently released Fallout TV show, a series for and about Walton Goggins' rizz (a thing the kids say). I've been on the Goggins hype train for over a decade at this point, and it's great that - oh sorry, I'm being told that the Fallout TV show is in fact about Bethesda's post-nukepocalypse RPG series of video games, and as such has given a massive player bump to said video games on Steam.
Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch later this year, and beyond offering an open world to explore, it's also going to allow players to step into the shoes of a scoundrel named Kay Vess. Needless to say, it's shaping up to be quite a departure from the lightsaber-swinging action we're used to from the recent Star Wars Jedi games, but the creative director of Outlaws says that the idea of having Jedi at the forefront of the game "didn't even enter the picture."
iOS 18 is reported to be Apple's biggest update for the iPhone as the company is planning a swarm of new AI-related utilities on a system level. There have been numerous reports highlighting how the iPhone could benefit from generative AI and what advancements it could bring to Siri and Spotlight Search. While the company is gradually expanding its efforts to bring the technology to the older and newer models of the iPhone, a prominent analyst claims that the first wave of AI features will not rely on AI cloud servers on the iPhone.
By now, you've probably heard the buzz surrounding Amazon's live-action Fallout show. And as it turns out, it is a faithful and fun adaptation of the hilariously grotesque post-apocalyptic role-playing game series. The live-action show offers a glimpse of the wild world of Fallout and all the bizarre hijinks just waiting to be uncovered, and it's likely got you wanting for some games to try out that have a similar conceit.
Warhorse Studios' new game will be revealed next week on April 18th, the Kingdom Come Deliverance developer has announced.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models will launch with a handful of improvements in terms of design, and as per the latest leak, Apple is tweaking the internal design as well to fit a bigger battery. While all iPhone 16 models are expected to house bigger batteries, the iPhone 16 Plus battery capacity will be slightly smaller than the current iPhone 15 Plus model.
