League of Legends developers announced plans to add another PVE game mode. The upcoming mid-year event for League of Legends promises to provide plenty of new content for Riot Games' popular online multiplayer online battle arena, with new events, balance changes, and a visual update for Lee Sin.
Though League of Legends is primarily known for Summoner's Rift's 5 versus 5 format, it has dabbled in cooperative game modes before. Most notoriously, Doom Bots previously pitted players against AI-controlled champions, with the twist being that these enemy characters were given ridiculously unbalanced abilities and were assisted by a gigantified Devil Teemo at the end of every match. Star Guardian's Invasion and the Odyssey: Extraction events additionally played with elements of cooperative bullet hell-style gameplay, wherein a team of players would have to fend off wave after wave of enemies while simultaneously avoiding an unending tide of projectiles. Now, Riot developers teased more details about another completely new PvE game mode, which is set to come out at the same time as the looming mid-year update.
Developers Selena Liu and Eduardo Cortejoso touched upon Riot Games' upcoming League of Legends projects, which included a brief glimpse at a planned PvE bullet heaven-style survivor. Cortejoso additionally revealed players can tackle the yet-to-be-named mode either by themselves or with a group of friends and that the gameplay experience will feel notably different from previous PvE events, though the developer also did not elaborate on the possible changes.
Not much is known about League of Legends' upcoming PVE feature. However, developers gave fans a brief look into the feature's ongoing development with a screenshot that depicted the champion Jinx surrounded by a horde of enemies, an image reminiscent of other Bullet Heaven-style games. The game mode was announced back in the January 2024 developer's update, and it was reportedly designed to be a more casual take on League of Legends — one that was intended to be less tense than the Arena's chaotic 2v2v2v2 duels while still providing a unique core gameplay experience.
It remains to be seen if the planned Bullet Heaven survivor PVE will resonate with League of Legends' player base. The MOBA has seen the rise and fall of multiple game modes since it was released in 2009 with only 17 champions. While some like Ultra Rapid Fire and One For All have found success with the community, it should also be noted that several of those featured modes either only ever return for short periods of time or were dropped entirely from the game due to low player populations.
League of Legends is one of the best MOBAs in the world, allowing players to duke it out

Escape from Tarkov director Nikita Buyanov apologized to fans displeased by the release of the controversial The Unheard edition, an expensive bundle that included exclusive access to a highly anticipated PvE mode. Developer Battlestate Games' popular extraction shooter was hit with widespread player outrage when it was revealed the long-awaited PvE mode was locked behind a $250 paywall. The studio and Buyanov have since attempted to placate its community, though large groups of fans remain distrustful of Escape from Tarkov's monetization system.

The creators of Escape from Tarkov may be looking for their own escape at the moment, after enraging the extraction shooter’s community with a new top-tier edition of the game that’s come under fire for its extortionate cost, “pay-to-win” offerings and for U-turning on the promise of free DLC for buyers of a previous bundle.
Xbox users are reporting that the new quality mode in Fallout 4 isn’t working. For years, fans of the post-apocalyptic franchise have been waiting for Bethesda to release Fallout 4’s next-gen update for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. That day finally arrived on April 25, though not without a fair few issues.
Escape From Tarkov, the extraction FPS from developer Battlestate, recently put up a new Unheard edition of the game for pre-order, and tarkov escapers aren't happy about it. The price for this bundle - which includes a new mode, a bigger stash, and assorted gubbins - comes in at $250, or around two actual hundred actual pounds, but the price alone isn’t necessarily what’s got a section of the player base so tarked-off that a few of them are even loudly considering a lawsuit.

Genshin Impact could be adding an Auto Chess game mode in the near future, inspired by the board game that Ningguang was developing in one of her Hangout routes. While Genshin Impact has toyed around with alternative gameplay modes through Flagship Events, the introduction of Genius Invokation TCG has given players a permanent way to take a break from the chores of completing daily commissions and instead play a game of cards in the tavern.

It's starting to feel like ConcernedApe (aka Eric Barone) may in fact be a modern day Sisiphus, destined to work on Stardew Valley forever. Following on from the mega update of 1.6 a month ago, and 1.6.3 soon after that, the hardy perennial farming game has a new 1.6.4 mini update. The key addition this time is more new layouts that will appear after you reach the bottom of the mines, and more layouts for the volcano mines too. If you've not played Stardew Valley you might wonder why there are deep mines and volcanos, and to you I say "Pah! You should play Stardew Valley."
